Please bring back Threads of Fate for SL

Look, I’m not very good with my rhetoric, I can’t convince you to love a fly so I’m just going to have my tirade.

I hate this linear story telling in MMO’s but I suffer through it. My complaint is that we are well on to the next expansion with pre-expansion quests soon being patched. Can we please bring this back so I don’t have to suffer through it. It’s the equivalent of cutting grass, none of the mobs are a threat, I’m reading a book, and not playing a game. It’s a pointless hurdle I have to get over.

I mean I get it you are trying to set up things with a pay off, but are there better ways to implement these things without all the dialogue? Like a book on a bench, or anything? Like in the future a stab option and a storytelling option? I just want to get off work and stab, collect my transmogs, and pvp, then log off. I guess what I’m trying to get at here is that gives us options if we’re going to have these Walmart MMO’s where we try to have a bit of everything (Single player stuff, Pokemon stuff, Multiplayer stuff, etc. etc.)

FFXIV I can press the ESC key (to a point that’s a slog in itself too) to bypass some of it but this, I’m just slouched in my chair dreading it.

It’s still there for characters level 60 or higher. That being said, I do wish they’d bring it back for lower characters. I liked leveling characters using threads of fate and would like to do it again.

Is it? Why not level some where else?

I agree about re-implementing threads of fate for leveling in SL. I think more people would choose to use SL for leveling if they weren’t locked into the main story campaign, which was among the dullest ever, and criminally slow at the beginning in Oribos.

It’s like Blizzard went back to the “welcome to Shattrath” escort quest and decided to expand that experience out to the first hour of a whole expansion. It’s so bad.

They took it out. I made sure on my Priest here.

I’m already max leveled and I wanted to do the rep grinds and get into the meat and taters of the game. Why would you defend this?

How is asking a question defending this?

Threads of Fate was the best thing to happen to SL leveling. I’ve always enjoyed options to picking and choosing where to level alts after my main has gone through it all, so when ToF became possible, it was fantastic. There are SO many “walk with me” quests where the npc walks faster than our walking speed but slower than a mount so we have to struggle to maintain pace while they babble about something we’ve already heard. I hated it.
That said I didn’t hate SL overall, but having ToF really helped with alts and leveling through it. I’d consider leveling some alts through it again at some point because I enjoyed the covenant flavor for choices etc, but having to do the on the rails questing really killed me during it for alts. Maybe someday…

No, they did not take it out. I have activated it at level 60 on 24 different alts at this point. Hit 60, go to the NPC, activate threads, select covenant. And yes, this was all done in Dragonflight. I started doing this in 10.1.5 (when I came back to the game after a long break), and I selected threads on my last alt a week ago.

They only removed the ability to level from 50-60 in SL with Threads. If you wait until 60 to start SL, the NPC meets you when you enter Oribos and turns everything grey, and gives you the option to select it right there. If you’re levelling in SL, you just have to go back to the NPC in Oribos when you hit 60.

I will try again, I tried talking to the guy behind the inn but he didn’t give me the option.

Then it must be a mistake on my part.

I thought it was dismissive.

Yeah I don’t know, I heard one other person say they had an issue with this, but never figured out why. It worked on every single one of my characters. Including the dracthyr in made in DF.

I tested it on one of my characters, and even if you select the normal story from the NPC, the threads option is still there if you go back to him. The only thing that’s permanent is, once you select threads, you can’t go back to completing the story. I could not find any way to make the option go away. You have to have completed the story and selected a covenant on one character before it will let you do this on an alt though.

Can we please call Psych Ward? Apparently one of their patients escaped and is trying to level through Shadowlands.

Why would you do that to yourself.

But yes removing FOF was just weird and a bad decision.

But they didn’t remove it. You just can’t use it to level in Shadowlands content anymore, it’s only accessible now after you hit 60 (so you can jump right into a covenant). I’ve done it on every single one of my army of alts.

No I was just curious why you felt like you needed to level in that xpac. This was before I learned you’re just doing the rep grind.

If Im 60, Im not touching SL. Why would anyone bother with it once theyre in current content? lol.
The only purpose SL might serve is someone leveling TO 60 and even that isnt appealing.
you think theyd be doing anything they could to make the content more interesting to play, but its always Bizarro backwards day with the company lol

Then I apologize.

I guess I made a mistake then, I’ll have to slog through it.

Many reasons. There are a lot of both achievements and cosmetics from SL that are still desirable.

It’s still in the game, i used it less than a week ago. You just need to

a) have completed the first few chapters of any covenant on a character
b) never been to Oribos before on the level 60+ you want to skip the campaign on

if both of the above are true, you should get the option to skip

They need to just open the world to have both the campaign quests and WQs. They pulled it off in DF, its fine to do it in SL too.

I hated all the SL mogs, personally, but Yeah, I can see a completionist wanting them regardless and the achieves.
Im more just into content I enjoy…and SL wasnt it, lol
