Please Blizzard I am begging you (warlock prospective future)

Please, please PLEASE keep this iteration of Demonology. I have not had this much fun with the class in years.

Removing Meta was a bold move, but the call is finally paying off. The demo spec is growing into it’s shell well and it finally has it’s own thematic and functional niche in both PvP and PvE content. It can even being expanded upon by promoting two different archtypes/playstyles: Demonology - Summoner (centered around DeCon and demons); Demonology - Caster (damage comes primarily from caster, funneling power from demons).

Decimating Bolt and it’s respective legendary meshes so well into not just Demo, but the class as a whole. I do not care if you need to fit the current gameplay in as recurring borrowed power going forward, please just let the current iteration stay.

You could not pay me to play affliction until it’s niche is properly identified and the spec is reworked accordingly. And honestly, just gut destruction and let it rot if it means Demo can shine

The current version of demonology is a mess that really isn’t fixable as long as externals exist, which Blizzard has said aren’t going away. As it stands, we’re currently chained to PI. The best way I can explain it is Demonology is in a weird spot where the class really needs some tuning upwards, but because it gains the most from PI, buffing the class so that it doesn’t need PI to really perform well will only make it absolutely absurdly overbuffed when PI is applied.

Also, the ramp can be extremely rough. It’s currently a fun spec, but any mechanics punish demonology harder than any class barring maybe shadow priest, while not having the damage without PI to really justify it.

Also, while this is a future problem, the fact it has one of the most synergistic legendaries and some of the best conduits of all specs currently in the game, on top of great synergy with soulbinds, the fact that it’s middle of the road with so much borrowed power in favor of it does not bode well for it’s viability long term.

Activision-Blizzard doesn’t care anymore no point begging. BTW i hate demonology with a strong passion. It’s overly complex to play and is hands down one of the most punishing spec in the game right now. Dungeon portal gimmick = punish. “Fly path” angel gimmick = punish. Boss being unattackable for a period of time = punish. Downtime = punish. Have to do a mechanic when your Tyrant is coming off CD = punish. About anything you’ll do outside of standing still casting will punish you DPS wise. I’d rather poke my eyes than play demo atm. I like the lore behind demo with the army of pet but the execution is atrocious and unprofessional at best. But it’s Activision-Blizzard so no surprise there …

I don’t ‘hate’ this version of demo, but I agree on 4th specs and a version of metamorphosis being a long over due raparation. Basically blizzard first nerfed then cut out a style of play many warlocks enjoyed by its sudden removal.

PVE:
I have such mixed feelings about current Demo. Firstly, I’ve never been a huge Demo fan throughout my WoW Career, but I do enjoy the current iteration of Demo’s flow while casting in PVE.

What I don’t like about it, is feeling that I don’t do any damage myself. I hate that fillers do ZERO damage.

I don’t want to make Demo into a BM Hunter, but I do at least envy that the hunter still does damage (even if it is spamming one ability, not counting barbed shot as an active spam ability).

I want my hand of guldan to do more dmg, but instead of just being able to throw them out based on shards, maybe give it two charges with independent cool downs, but it TRUCKS and still summons imps. I want my imp dmg to feel meaningful.

Summon the dogs? Well that’s cool, but it’s just another dot renamed and re skinned, they should give each summon demon a niche, or specific set of niches in your tool kit.

I just want more meaning behind a lot of the class abilities, not just Warlock in general, but I’m tired of blizzard just have them same thing over and over just re skinned. At least Destro (as boring as it is to me) plays different than aff. Demo, while yes it plays differently, still feels like a reskinned aff lock to me.

PVP:

I just don’t like Demo at all in this arena. I hate that ALL my damage comes from my pets and I want ALL locks to have DOTS, or at least A DOT in pvp situations. It just feels like the lock way. Maybe all specs have instant corruption, but it works differently for each spec? I’m not sure how Demo can be fixed for me to like it for pvp… Maybe demons would just need to do WAY more dmg. Tyrant is neat, but the build up of a perfect tyrant isn’t always the easiest in PvP.

Casting is atrocious in PvP. While in PVE it feels great and flows well (IMO), in PvP it just doesn’t work as well (for me). With the current took kit of most classes, playing most casters right now feels terrible. Current demo would probably feel great if it were implemented in the current TBC game, or even classic wow. But now, with everyone having gap closers, interpts, stuns, silences, it just feels bad to me.

I hate how slow Demo feels. Barely any instant cast, it takes forever to build up your demons.

I agree with your desire for Demonology to have more caster damage, and honestly, the framework is there, we just don’t use it because its a weaker build.

You see, If we had a Sacrificed Souls who is stronger than it currently is (let’s say, on levels similar to DeCon?) you would have a lot more player damage, you could go for Dreadlash/Power Siphon or Doom (Who also gives you a dot like you want), FTS, Soul Conduit and Sacrificed Souls and suddenly you would deal a whole lot more player damage.

On the other hand, i would say if you go for DL/DSTR, Demonic Calling, VF, GFG and DeCon with wilfred…well, it makes sense that your player damage is a low, after all, all your talents and legendary are picks around making the most badass, meanest Tyrant, with the lowest amount ofi interval between each other.

i find if the desire is for more player damage, its better to advocate for improvements on Sacrificed Souls (more damage and better aoe synergies, as currently imploding = zeroing your damage bonus from imps to SB/DB), Power Siphon/Doom and maybe on Soul Conduit and Bilescourge Bombers (Who is player damage by the way).

Like, maybe Sacrificed Souls effect could be a independent stacks system like niya, everytime you summon a demon you gain 1 stack with its own independent duration, that way imploding don’t reset the buff (lowering your single target).

Or maybe, it could work around pets dying, that way it adds a thematic similar to power siphon, implosion of “sacrificing cannon fodder for power”, lots of possibilities.

As for PVP, i am more of a casual (don’t do rated) but my suggestion is Give a try to the full demon bolt built as instructed here https://youtu.be/I6wwGgwkrnE or the hybrid build (who also have doom).

It’s incredibly fun in pvp and when done right you two-shot people with 2 instant cast demon bolts.
