Why? Just wondering so I could form an opinion of support or not. I personally for my shaman don’t see the point in a sword. Axes maces daggers fisted weapons, yes, but a sword I am not feeling it. Convince me otherwise, other than because they are cool looking.
I just don’t feel a sword is very shamanic. Swords are a weapon of civilization and don’t feel like something shaman would use.

I always wanted that mace to be massive, like an anime weapon. Sadly, it’s not.
If you think about it we already have access to bladed weapons daggers and some fist weapons are just hiltless swords. Also
He has it right Just looking at this weapons graphics it should have been a weapon that Shamans could use.

daggers are one thing, swords are another. I am sorry but I can not support you on this. I don’t see this something that would improve our class in any way. Unless you can name one shaman in lore that ever held a sword or even have justification means other then what you have provided. I just don’t see really the whole shaman community behind you or even that Blizzard would even take this seriously to implement it. Not trying to be a dick or anything just trying to be real with you. Hell we cant even get Blizzard to give us 2 handers back and be usable in combat.

Understood no your not being a dick as you said your telling it from how you see it. I see something different. It would also make getting weapons for enhancement a bit eaiser as it would open up another choice for us.

Have you been having that problem getting weapons? Because that has and always will be our problem. Gear in general has always been one of our problems. Will some classes can get gear handed to them like candy we shamans have to get nearly the best gear in the game to be decent. Something that I hope next expansion Blizzard really does address. It would be nice from the start be on par with those of other classes gear wise for survivability and damage output.
Back to your point of your post and a comment you just stated it would give us another weapon choice to get. So are you saying that a one handed sword would do more dps than a mace,ax,or fist weapon? (daggers I will say I dont know why we have them as shamans because its like hitting a mob with a feather. In the hands of a rogue daggers are amazing but with us shaman not so much). So lets explore that show me the numbers in comparison of what a sword dps for a shaman would be compared to a mace ax or fist weapon. I know when i play my gnome warrior there is a difference which is why I use two handed swords instead of any other weapon. That and the swords are like three times my gnomes size. So, lets really run the numbers see if we cant make a good case for that.
Yea getting weapons has always been a issue for me I got armor no worries but weapons have been the issue.
No what I am saying is that having access to swords would give us another option for weapons. And for daggers I know they are only for heal and ele with us. We like nice slow weapons but yea I feel swords would just open up another avenue for us to get weapons.
This cant be your only arguement so we could have more options because lets look at the numbers. Now mind you this is only at raiding not dungeon not what we will find in the world however it will give you somewhat of a comparsion.

As you can tell from all these and mind you these were from just looking at the raid loot table for a shaman. Swords could hold their own as far as Dmg wise goes and DPS wise goes and especially speed wise. However, does it seem really practical when you have other weapon systems mainly fist weapons that can out perform DPS and dmg wise. now granted for us shamans we would be enhancing these numbers with elemental powers but even if you add that it wouldnt be I think enough of a change that would warrant us to outside as a whole to warrant swords to be added as a weapon choice for us.
Now the argument could be made to allow us to have swords for transmog purposes and in case option for us. as they are all on par with pretty much all the other one handed weapons choices that we have that are in the same dmg, DPS, and speed range if that is what your main argument is really at. I can get behind that as the reasoning and I think many of us shamans would as well get behind that. Hell I would even suggest Blizzard do this take daggers in exchange for swords.

I will be honest I did not look at the dps of swords vs the other weapons. What I was thinking of was the issues I have had getting weapons in SL and other xpacs as an Enhancement Shaman my luck was bad. I got the armor but not the weapons. I saw plenty of 1h swords drop that just was disenchanted because everyone had weapons of that tier where as I was struggling with getting at least 1 weapon from the raid tier let alone 2.
To me this is a big issue I like dw but sometimes I was we had a 2h option. I was also looking at xmog as stated above Thunderfury which imo screams enhancement shaman weapon. As stated in my experience as a shaman I have had extremely bad luck getting tier weapons (i.e weapons from raids) I might get one or I might not get a drop weapon wise at all. And be using the best I could get which is from m+. Again I wasn’t looking at the dps numbers they did just that it would open up another option for us to get weapons as well as the transmogs.
Yeah that part of things is always a struggle for Shamans has been for a really long time. Finding gear and more than that gear that allows us shamans to be on par with others while they level. The drops do come. As many will tell you its just you also have to remember Blizzard while they will acknowledge us in their lore and stories. As a playable race shamans are a class they do not want to deal with because in the end a Shaman tends to outside all other classes.
On another note I dont know your experience level in MMORPGs or even RPGs in general. I am an old school gamer and the numbers for dps and damage dont lie so when I am trying to find a weapon I dont look at the ilevel or what is being dropped. I look at is my damage output going to be better than what I currently have or worst. The same with DPS. Since shamans dont use swords currently I never compared them before. So I thank you for allow me to look at that.
I did put in a suggestion in game for Blizzard to consider it. Now whether Blizzard will see this thread and read a suggestion from ingame, is anyones guess. Here is hoping.

I was playing wow 2-3 months after it was released. my priest still has the mc priest staff Benediction/Anathina. I have taken breaks like during mop and last half of cata.

I want 2h enh back. Frost DK got theirs…
I want to be able to xmog Thunderfury or a few other swords. But as stated above this would help Enhancement get weapons faster
