Please be more specific - how to unlock flying in SL?

I read this: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/307013

  • Earn 44 Renown with your Covenant
OK, I had tried to earn “renown” in SL, and I find it confusing. What exactly is the process??

  • Complete all 9 chapters of the Covenant Campaign
OK, what is that? How do I start it? Where do I even go to see what covenant I’m in? My SL button on minimap has been replaces with DF

    • Complete up through the 3rd chapter of the 9.1 “Chains of Domination” Campaign (ending with The Primus Returns)
OK, Where is that? Where is the quest to pick it up?

Come on Blizz, with instructions this complicated, there should at least be something IN GAME to show me where to at least START the journey. Why leave something as important as flying hidden?

You should have a Chains of Domination campaign tab in your quest log when you’re in Shadowlands zones.

It might require completion of the covenant campaign, I’m not sure-- I just sped through everything as it unlocked as renown increased for me.

44 renown is when the third chapter unlocks.

They aren’t that difficult. If you know how to read look at your quest log it will tell you what quest to pick up to continue your campaign. Earn renown by doing the cov. Campaign quests. Pretty easy.

You earn renown with your chosen covenant just by completing activities.

Chspter quests should show in your quest log.

When starting Shadowland, early on you should have a quest in Oribos to pick a covenant. Here is a guide on that:

Doing quests from your chosen Covenant will open up Chapters that you need to complete. At the top of your quest log it will tell you where you are in your completed chapters.

Completing random things like your Covenant Campaign quests, running dungeons, completing events in the Maw, and a number of other things will grant you Renown with your Covenant.

Once you’re further along in the campaign, you will get a quest to go to Korthia and start the Chains of Domination quest line / chapters. I believe it’s chapter 4 of that campaign that actually unlocks flying.

I appreciate everyone’s help, but looking at my quest log is dominated by Dragon Flight. Nothing on my quest log shows anything related to Shadow Lands. :frowning:

— A funny thing just happened… I went to Oribos and Found a quest from Greymane. I followed it through Maldraxxis, and got the achievement “Return to Loraedon”. Now, my quest log shows “Complete quest ’ a calling to bastion’ to continue the campaign”. So now I’m googling around to find out how to do that lol. So something must have been bugged and was hiding that until I finished that quest chain. Ugh so confusing…

well I gave it a good 3 hours. I have my first Campaign quest in Bastion - “A Calling in Bastion” which says to “complete three world quests in Bastion”. I tried and tried and I can’t even reach a single world quest. Seriously I’m just circling the (?) on the map and can’t get to it. :frowning:

@Kozzae
I completed two work quests that popped up at an easy location, got my Renown to 6, but they don’t count towards the quest? How am I supposed to do this? The guides on wowhead are full of people saying the same things - it seems no one can do it, and if any has they’re not telling.

When you are in Oribos, or I believe any Shadowlands area it should show a covenant campain progress #/9 chapters, and if you entered Zereth Mortis, The Dragonscale Expedition 0/1 Chapters. At least that is what I see on an alt at 60 when I entered Oribos.

I finally did find that on my Mage. But there are more issues - my first quest says to complete 3 world quests. I did 2, and got no credit, the others I can’t reach because I can’t find any path to their locations. I’m not saying gameplay should be easy, but instructions should be clear and simple, world quests should be clearly marked as such, and the path to them should be simple and intuitive. Once there, the game mechanics of that quest can be as difficulty as you want. Just let me be able to get there.

Not sure which quest that is, but it sounds like a calling. probably not a part of your covenant campain. Did it mention completing it with a trainee? Those should given renown though.
