Please ban the addon that shows parses in tooltips

while the meme is funny, if anyone cares about this goober’s logs they would have just been typing his name into the website already.

nothing changes, literally nothing, this whole discussion is a huge nothing burger inflamed by people who aren’t going to use it or the website it links to anyway, so what does it matter.

Oh i know.

The people who will use the addon were already looking you up anyway.

Just ban addons period at this point. They aren’t necessary and only increase toxicity. If you’re using them as a crutch, or as an excuse to treat people poorly who are just trying to play a literal children’s game, then I really feel sorry for you

I do love me my addons and grateful they’re not going anywhere! As for the parse addon, I can’t tell how many “toxic” situations will arise from it, know there’ll be more that otherwise you’d never look up if said player wasn’t joining your pug raid group. However WCL parse isn’t for or against you, it’s just a reflection of your effort, knowledge, and skill level (variables exist per raiding group)

PEDs don’t make you a body builder or win a ufc fight. they just enhance the work you put in. Same with addons

countless fighters and gym goers use/abuse PEDs and are not professionals lol.

No incorrect. WCL themselves crushed it because it was ddosing servers. Blizz had nothing to do with it.

I legit should sign my posts tourists plz go.

Logs arent an addon.

by you thread replies looks like you spend your whole day on here lol!

Lotta down time at my job cause i gotta take little breaks, I don’t post when I’m at home :man_shrugging:.

you’re just a troll with a big head! lol

However subscribers to the Patreon will continue to have extra benefits like more regular updates to the data and other stuff.

Thus making the addon to be in violation of the ToS

Wait, what? For real? People are seriously defending WCL & their addon despite this? Ya know, I should be surprised but I’m really not with how scummy the WoW community is as a whole.
I wonder if Blizz is gonna nuke it from orbit.

I’ve never actually met someone who takes false information, believes it so hard they get worked up enough to give me an essay, (for whatever braindead reason) and then looks like a complete idiot when they’re trying to to convince others they’re right. Do better dude, you’re embarrassing yourself.

Oh so you pay to be apart of the alpha test? Meaning in order to use it currently, you have to pay for it? Kinda sounds like it’s a paid addon then, ya know, since you have to pay to access it currently.

Agreed, please keep it out of wow.

I don’t like it either, as I’m not a patreon sub, but I understand their rationale.
I am aware of the blizz TOS around this, but I’m also aware of many full release paid addons (with no free option, like this one will have once testing is complete) which seemingly get a free pass without this level of attention/crying on the forums.

It makes me think that this isn’t the reason for the negative reaction at all, and that it’s something else…

Of course it’s something else… it’s scarlet lettering so anyone with a bad parse will just get treater worse by everyone because it’s on their tooltip.

It’s stupid everyone is trying to use the “paid” portion of the ToS as the argument against the addon.

The problem is that it makes the gameplay experience worse by putting a tooltip in game that will lead to negative behavior. It’s one thing for a log to be taken from the game and put on an external website, but it’s a very different thing to put it right on the tooltip.

Gearscore addon’s are kinda problematic, but in reality since you can inspect someone and see their gear it’s just speeding up a process that’s already possible in game, and I don’t mind this, but bringing in something from an external site to impact how players treat each other crosses a line for me.

People who don’t like this focus on the paid portion and how that breaks ToS, but it also breaks ToS if it negatively impacts players experience of the game (as determined by blizz) and IMO that’s the argument to make here, not that it’s paid.

All this is based in the loaded conjecture that someone is just going to randomly come up to you, with no prior interaction, and say “lmao nice green parse on eranikus noob”!

Its some serious paranoid delusions

Let’s go ahead an assume it’s not paid, and that everyone downloads it. Are you saying it won’t affect every single interaction in the game?

Whether it’s a 5 man group or enchanting or whatever… there’s so much potential for toxic behavior to come from this addon and it really has nothing to do with the paid aspect… in fact it’s better off being paid so less people have it, but either way I’m not touching SoD until/unless it’s banned.

What is the difference between this and gearscore?
