Please allow us to slow down xp gains

Hello. Might sound insane. But I’d love to really be able to enjoy the new expac leveling to its fullest.

It’d be really nice to allow chromie to cast a spell on you or something that slows down experience gains for those who wish to take it in at a slower pace in retail.

Thanks

you can do that in main city. npc that stops your leveling fully though

This is already in the game, you can turn off XP gains until you want to turn them back on. Just google how to turn off xp.

Yeah :-/ but that stops it entirely. That’s been around for a bit. I’d be nice to be able to just like … cut it in half even.

I feel like leveling is too fast and when it’s slower your levels mean more …

in war within its gonna be even quicker cause they want everyone at max level content asap

For those saying “turn off xp” I could not turn XP off on fuzz when she was level 60… that may not be an option at all come WW so who knows?

Think this ask through.

You will do every quest and not hit max level. You’ll fully explore all the zones and not hit max level.

To hit max level you’ll end up simply grinding mobs, dungeons, and raids ad nauseam.

Do you really want that ??

Honestly, with scaling what’s the difference in gaining XP when doing a quest and gaining gold from doing a quest at max level? Same quests, still scaled, I just wonder why does it “mean more” just to have some XP attached to it.

Just turn it off when you reach the appropriate level cap for that expansion and go about finishing quests there till your ready for the next. That is the authentic experience. You might reach the point to turn it off a little early but like a third of every expansion exists as only level cap content already normally.

The other idea is to add an heirloom trinket or jewelry item that fulfills this function. We know they can increase XP via an item from how heirlooms used to work. They could offer and sell an “Explorer’s Heirloom” that reduces the XP you earn by 50% and disables Rest XP entirely.

I hate scaled content and I would much rather live in a world where old stuff I just one shot. I would not want a holistic solution like ESO or similar games where no matter where you go its all the same difficulty for you and its always challenging.

That said, being able to turn that on / off as you desire and go and do low level quests and be scaled to the zone level. Would be a nice feature to let people complete old content, keep it semi engaging, and make the rewards for doing so relevant.

I also want this feature. Leveling is fun, i enjoy gaining xp and getting stronger as i do stuff. Sometimes i want to do it really fast. Other times i want it to take longer.

Turning xp off isnt a solution for me because eventually you have to turn it back on.

Seconded, I have this problem every expansion because I like doing all the side quests.

Does that work in current content? Last I heard it was only for legacy content you could stop your xp, I thought it stopped working like 10 levels below max. Would be happy to be wrong though

I don’t think it’s going to be any quicker. I suspect that the time it takes to level to 70 in TWW will be approximately equal to the time it takes to get to 60 now. The 70-80 range is likely to be, time-wise, the same or a bit slower as the 60-70 range is now.

1 to 70, maybe, at least according to what’s in the current Alpha. But it is still early Alpha and 70 to 80 is unlikely to be all that much quicker than 60 to 70 is today. Maybe slightly faster for alts considering the Warband bonus, but your main should progress through TWW content at a normal pace.

Anyway, to the topic at hand, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to have a toggle, but since we already have scaling and Chromie Time, I don’t see the use in slowing exp. Sure, in the past it was easy to overlevel an area so you either had to stick around and earn next to nothing from quests and mobs, or move on and abandon your current zone before you could finish quest lines. But scaling and CT mostly alleviated that in my opinion.

Experience sliders and difficulty sliders have always been needed for leveling.

Expansions are built around “standard xp gains” so you don’t typically outlevel a zone. Its that later on there are boosts. Your first character typically cant do certain quests until you get to a certain level.

You can just skip all the side quests and focus on the main story if you want and come back for side quests or just clear out each zone and just know you’re going to max out some time in the final zone and have lots of quests left.

Also, I saw today every time you get a character to 80, your account gets a 5% xp boost. 5-10-15-20-25% account wide boost.

That assumes that your willing to play an ALT for each expansion of chromie time. Sure you can finish an expansion but now that toon has to sit there at level 60. Until you level X amount of ALTs through the other expansions.

Where the OP is looking for the full experience on assumedly their first play through.

I would also like this. Have some challenge buff or something that gives us less exp, less health/ take more damage while leveling. It’s kinda boring just breezing through a lot of mobs while leveling in retail and not really needing food or using CC

How does hitting cap stop you from doing quests? Dragonflight made you do the whole campaign as did shadowlands.

This whole idea has to be either trolling or people with 2 brain cells
