I suffer from dysgraphia, so this means I’ll make forum posts and responses, and constantly have to go back and edit my posts afterwards because after I post my reply or make a new post, a while after, I’ll notice everything from grammar mistakes, misspellings, wrong words, or worse of all erroneous words contained within a sentence or two sentences merged into one sentence where I begin typing out one sentence but then a new sentence was typed out midway (two thought patterns).

So sometimes when I am active on the forums or simply receive a lot of replies that I like to reply to, I often hit the edit cap and get the message:

“You’ve reached the maximum number of edits. Please wait 12 hours before trying again.”

So as a result it makes me feel like a total idiot when I can’t fix what I just posted with an obvious screw up and it’s stuck there and I can’t do anything about it, especially the posts with erroneous words/sentences.

So please raise the cap or simply remove the unnecessary edit cap (why does it even exist?)… especially as it’s a headache and a burden for those like myself who may also suffer from some sort of dysgraphia.

Also when this happens in all honesty, just makes me feel bummed out and afraid to make any posts or replies for the rest of the day knowing that I will mess them up and be incapable of fixing mistakes. and i guess it’s also frustrating, as i am frustrated that i can’t even add this to my op above.

This is why I write the initial post using Notepad and use the extension “Grammarly” with my browser to double-check before I do post.

while this may help with misspellings or simple grammar issues. From my experience, it unfortunately doesn’t help always with all erroneous words or a sentence that changed midway and morphed into a completely different sentence.

plus it’s just a hassle tbh. makes me feel like i’m back in school and turns writing into a chore… personally i prefer to just go back and correct my mistakes. it just feels easier for me, even if it may be more time consuming than catching most these errors from the get-go by using Word or another program ahead of time.

Just want to follow up on this as this is still an issue for me as of present. Still often run into the edit limit trying to correct my posts :\

I understand why you want the edit cap removed, but I believe it’s there to prevent spam issues and some arguments from getting out of hand. Essentially, I believe it cuts down on disruption tactics in the forum.

I have a slightly different suggestion than the previous one: what about Google Docs and Grammarly?

how sure how having the ability to edit your posts enables anyone to spam? that makes no sense. Spammers would just post new posts to spam or spam from the get-go (no editing required)
