I know this has been posted before, but it has never been addressed by any of the Devs.
It would be nice if Blizz could see their way to fix the bug of the Chess event in Kara to allow an option to “skip” the event all together. Running Kara for transmogs sucks because it always bugs out. Tried it on all 17 of my level 50 and 60 toons and every one had the same problem, bugged at the beginning or during the event. Keeps happening week after week. I don’t think I have gotten to the last boss since I did Kara when it first came out way back when.

How long have you been having this issue? I haven’t touched the Kara raid for a few expansions now but I recall having no issue with the chess event way back when. But it HAS been a long while for me. Long before the level squish.
Did Kara a couple weeks ago. It can be tricky but it can be done. There’s a couple videos on YouTube.
Yeah I’m not sure what bug you’re talking about. It’s been a while (a good long while mind you) since I’ve went that far into Kara but I had no problems doing chess event. If it failed it was me not being fast enough, if anything.
Can you go into a little more detail about that?
Also, I would probably go back more with being able to skip chess. It’s doable, but tedious solo.

its not that hard to do main the healing piece and easy win keep the king/war chief alive easy win
I wouldn’t mind it if you could skip it, just like being able to skip the spine of deathwing fight. Every time I ran Kara would take at least 2 tries on the chess event simply because of the RNG of Medivh cheating, would always screw me. As for spine of deathwing, I know that can be solo’ed as well, but doesn’t make any less of a PITA.

Not sure of a bug here. Did kara a couple of days ago. Did you record it offhand?

I feel like I should make a song about this…One Night in Azeroth.
That didn’t sound at all like Murray Head.

Didn’t they nerf the hell out of the event anyway? Last time I attempted it, it was easy to solo
they did most of the time you can go afk and win
I thought it had been nerfed already. I never completed it on my main in any of my transmog runs, but I had to get some cloth gear off the chess event itself and took a geared cloth toon in there last week and got it on the second try.
General tips:
-
Pretty sure the event hates any kind of UI modifiying mods. I run ElvUI and was only able to control three different pieces each run – the king, one pawn, and one other back row piece.
-
Wiped the first time trying to control the king the whole time.
-
Next time in, got the one pawn I could control, and basically just did general melee with him (the king auto-healed me several times), and that one pawn killed 4-5 of the other pieces. My other pieces, being auto-played by the game itself, handled all but 2-3 of the other pieces. Then I brought out the king once my pawn died and I still had 7-8 pieces left on the board; we killed the remaining 3 opponent pieces and I got past the instance.
About halfway through my successful run, Medivh yelled out in chat that I had failed, but it allowed me to keep playing. When I was done, nothing told me that I had won or that I had been successful, but I was able to loot the chest (and get the piece I was looking for, thankfully).
Basically if you want to control any piece you want to, I would try going in there with the stock UI only and no add-ons. That was going to be my next step. Otherwise it looks like the health of the enemy pieces (and their resistance to damage) has been toned down considerably in recent years.
They did.
It’s so easy and repeatable that now that I’d be in favor of a skip just to avoid the tedium…
when the odds of a successful attempt are that rng I can agree. If they do not want to add a skip at the very least remove the debuff when you exit a piece. that way you can speed it up and not have to wait on a 5 or 6 second delay. Said delay should of been removed a decade ago when Karazhan was as soloable as it is today.
Do that and it would go easier and if blizzard wanted to nerf the fight that way and maybe increase the damage the horde/alliance do depending on what faction you run it on that would be the best solution over a skip. Since that fight has some nice transmog options.
