Please allow all professions on 1 character

Ewww no thank you.

So, I use to be in the camp of 1 character being able to do all professions…

…but then they showed me this whole new order system coming and I said, yeh I prefer this. I think it’s important that some form of community is brought back to WoW. Sure, you can create an army of crafting alts and maintain them…but the average player won’t be doing that.

So you’ll have players putting in orders to be fulfilled, whether it’s getting something crafted or requesting mats to fulfil a work order and playing a margins game…

It opens up a whole new level of casual gameplay and I’m all for it.

there is no monopoly and that has nothing to do with an open world and interdependent crafting system anyway. they have buy orders - people aren’t going to fill every buy order

Because most of the potential customers just make it on an alt.

if that was true people would not be making money on the auction house from crafted gear and you would not have people like OP asking for all professions on one character even though he has absolutely no need for anything other than leather gear and consumables.

Nope, they just don’t want to.

yes I think blizzard gets how fast that would be

It’s a matter of degree. Of course there are player that only play one toon and buy all their goods. Didn’t think I would need to qualify with that. But that some players do buy everything doesn’t mean there is no impact on the volume of trades from all the players that make everything on their own.

And as someone that does make leggos and the 262 unique equipped gear, that you see it on the AH doesn’t mean it sells all that well. Last time I made some unique equipped plate it took over a month to sell them.

That was a terrible comparison. Apples to shoes comparison. There are lots of games that allow you to have more than one main profession and all it does is add to the flavor of that particular character.

Gah, I hate comparing apples to shoes…they’re squishy and wet and sticky!!

That would be a great way to drive all the casuals who gather out of the game, wouldn’t it?

I think “gatherer” should be a profession, triple gatherer able to farm herbs, ore, and leather.

this system they propose will allow more people to participate on the auction not less and people on low population servers will have a chance to be able to get stuff they normally wouldn’t be able to buy with the buy orders.

I think it will be a good system if blizzard doesn’t let players screw it up by making self serving suggestions.

My only issue with it, is invariably they will end up tying the top end to raid and dungeons

If I understand the system correctly it only allows for people to get bind on pick up crafting components and then have someone else make an item that’s soul bound to them.

I don’t think it’s actually a robust buy order process like “Offering 20g per for 200 of item X” or “offering 25k for a base item.”

Not sure if it’s creating interdependence or just an unnecessary step for getting an item from a drop only you can use.

I would be ok with one profession per account. Imagine if we had to interact with each other and your profession had value. Imagine your guild saying “We have an herb picker in our guild? Awesome!” instead of “we need stinkroot? no problem, I will make an alt”.

Imagine people caring about what your profession is.

It could be worse, I suppose. It could have been a crafter who had many hours of quests completed in order to get there. At least with gathering a character can reach Legion max in a few hours.

I hate what they’ve done to low level professions. It’s just random. To get a BC jewelcrafter to max (75) you have to level an alchemist to 225 classic in order to get the BoP philosopher’s stone to produce an item that can’t be purchased on a dead server, where no ore is available either. You need an herbalist to farm 300 classic herbs. Many recipes have been removed and mats necessary for leveling a profession have been nerfed hard.

Well if they keep their promise and make everything that isn’t gear related as account shared / bound. Only one character needs to grind reputations to get crafting recipes and such and then can distribute amongst alts making the need for all professions on character not as needed. Not saying it wouldn’t be nice but I just wanted to point out it will be a lot more tolerable if they don’t go back on their word.

then what would be the point of professions on other characters?

Why would you need them if you had one main crafter? Not everyone wants a million alts.

than what’s the point of selling profession items or trying to make money off them if everyone has them?

There’s a lot of people who don’t and won’t craft. Not everyone enjoys it.
