On dreamscythe, level 65, having to go back to old zones to level mining since I out- leveled it early on (because, of course, no profession keeps up with leveling rate).
I’ve spent the last two days running around hinterlands, tanaris, feralas, searing gorge, and burning steps. At absolute best, I’m lucky to find one mining node every 5-10 minutes. I’ve only gone from 220-253 mining skill in two days between smelting and nodes.
There’s herbs fricking everywhere, but mining nodes are nowhere to be found, and between the crap spawn rate, scarcity, and the number of players trying to mine, its nearly impossible to level mining at a reasonable pace.

Buy ore and smelt up to like 295

Not really an option for new mains, it is in no way affordable.

He’s right. If you want to mine your own ore its almost impossible. i can’t accept that this is the intent of a video game maker.

I agree with you. I have been leveling my mining very slowly because of this issue. Well, I made it to Outland and guess what? Now, not only are the nodes almost non-existent, but you’re also likely to find yourself locked in a PvP battle any time you dare land on the ground near a node spawn.
Honestly, it is a nightmare.
Those of us who created new characters at pre-patch and rushed to get to 60 for the Dark Portal were forced to come back to level professions as well.
I refuse to purchase mats to level my profession because:
A. I’m a cheapskate
B. I don’t yet have an epic flying mount, thus,
it took me a long freaking time to get my mining to 300 in order to mine in the content I was leveling in.
