Please address Survival

I’m sure the minds at Blizzard can take a close look at this neglected, maligned, ignored spec, and offer some improvements? I love playing a melee Hunter but it needs help.

The only improvement to that spec is reverting it back to its Ranged iteration.

Which would require more work on their part?

Add some more base damage, tweak a talent row and I’ll be happy. Baseline camouflage would be nice too.

Edit - bring back Caltrops that slows and does a bleed DOT too, like it used to.

reversing it back to be a ranged spec over being a melee, some of the talents were moved to mm and bm, so you would have to rearrange the 3 specs and not just one

I would like Serpent Sting’s damage to be modified. More upfront.

And Camouflage baseline for SV Hunters if not all Hunters.

I like the niche/fantasy it serves.

It shouldn’t be removed.

I am Wrath-Old-school fan girl.
BM was sick for leveling and arena.
MM was sick for bursting and raids
Survival was amazing for PvP overall.

How are you having a tough time with it? Kill command, keep serpent sting dot up, raptor strike spam and grenade toss. Aoe for Chakrams, whatever your covenant is and kill shot to finish off the target.

Baseline for survival hunters. Fits their theme better.

The only thing I can think of is make it a specialization that requires a chain of appropriately-used abilities, to keep the Focus from completely dumping, and to reward a ‘perfect play’ of the specialization–which pretty much means it won’t be useful in PvP and only PvE.

As it stands, I hate Survival, simply because dumping a third of your Focus for barely any amount of rejuvenation of Focus using generators, it doesn’t feel rewarding even in the slightest. And most of the damage requires you to chain together numerous Focus dumps just to get ‘decent’ damage, and then it drops back down again because, well you guessed it, you ran out of Focus and can’t regen more to keep the stacked buff up…

The only niche it fulfills is being outclassed by almost every melee and being inferior to the other two specs as a Hunter spec.

It’s an absolute, complete, and utter waste of resources that they will literally never make viable as long as the class has two ranged specs.

Marksman is over tuned atm and needs to be lawnmowered.

Like comparing a matchstick to the sun.

If anything all the more reason to give it attention.

Literally.

BM spec needs a decent little buff, and it also needs to become actually about the Pet, not a mix-match of Pet and Hunter (which is basically what Survival is.) BM needs to become about THE PET entirely, minimal DPS from the Hunter.

And yeah, MM needs to be toned down about 10%.

You know the player character is the hero, right? Not the pet. The more weight you put on the pet you worse you make us for PVP in the event that the pet gets killed. What you’re suggesting is bad class design in function, form, and thematics.

Still better than frost/fury

Hardly. BM spec used to dominate PvP back in WotLK and Cataclysm, and pets hardly died back then unless they were focus-targeted, chain CC’d, or generally just put on ice.

BM spec used to rule as the premier PvP spec. It hasn’t been that way for quite some time.

Also, they seriously need to just revert Bestial Wrath to make your pet invulnerable to death for its duration, likewise, problem solved for PvP.

Survival can be made viable (even great), it just needs 1) a ~8-10% damage boost and 2) utility MM/BM doesn’t have (like a grip or even a brez).

Check the top player specs in 2s, 3s, raid and Mythic DPS meters and ask that question again.
