I like the Evoker playstyle, but every time I try to play mine, I feel disgusted by the looks and run animations of dracthyr, and on top of that - it cannot be transmogrified.
Dracthyr could have been like a “regular” World of Warcraft dragon NPC with full mail armor and the tails handled like for other races’ tails and call it a day. But no, it had to be some sad jar jar binks wannabe.
Please make other races be able to play Evoker. Think of some “in-game explanation” on why they can be this class - the dragons taught them magic or whatever, and finally let us have fully transmogrifiable evokers instead of this abomination…
I’m sure if they want, they can “do” it - for example, say, they’d make humans be Evoker - when you cast Hover, you conjure “magic wings” for the duration or something of the sort… it doesn’t need to be physical wings/tail necessarily.
I’m pretty certain such things can be figured out in a fantasy game. How does Fire mage have Dragon’s breath when it’s not a dragon-like race? Well, it conjures a dragon for a few seconds that spews fire. Same with other races and evoker abilities
While I agree with the OP that the dracthyr would be awesome on all races, I think that ship sailed when blizzard tied animations to having wings and a tail.
I think Blizzard was lazy with this. They easily could have made the wings and tail abilities be animated magical wings and tails that appear on any race choosing to harness the power of the aspects (which is now the power of Azeroth herself), but if they didn’t want to put the manpower in then they won’t know.
However, at a minimum, blizzard should let visage form be any race with dragon eyes, like the visage forms of other races. It would be so easy to do.
If they’re feeling generous, they’ll animate/skin real armor on the dracthyr model. As I agree that it SUCKS not being able transmit and sucks even WORSE that it’s all half-transmog half-barber. This is 2024. Seriously shouldn’t have to deal with that kind of annoying.
have u not used a single toy to change race? it doesnt break the game. sure from a lore standpoint its a perfectly good argument but past that there is no argument that could work. and blizzard changes the lore all the time so i dont see anything stopping this other than someone saying appreciate my work
Dracthyr are small due to Blizzard’s unwillingness to make any race taller than 8 feet tall in-game. Which is goofy when you consider how much larger they make boss characters or leaders. Yes I know this is for target reasons in-game but still. Just like how Worgen and Tauren are smaller than a lore correct size they could have made Dracthyr larger and more of a threat looking but we got a smaller race and as so many say more lizard looking. Don’t believe me pop a https://www.wowhead.com/ptr-2/item=202290/firewater-sorbet and see the difference a little size makes.
Dracthyr are as tall as male tauren, before any size increases. Using the Vrykul Drinking Horn makes them effectively two orc females tall, which if using the standard ‘height’ charts people tossed together, would be twelve feet and the size becomes noticeable because you’d be more or less permanently larger than most player’s mounts as far as height goes. That said, using something that makes them smaller (like the Darkmoon Seesaw) makes them roughly the height of the human female.
I don’t really get the “Dracthyr are tiny” thing when a Dracthyr with no size buffs has the average-sized races coming up to their waist.
It’s more the fact Blizzard has basically hard locked races to 8 feet tall at the most. Take for example the Tauren they should be 10 feet tall according to lore but are 8 feet due to Blizzard at the start of the game making them smaller so they can fit indoors. The tallest player races we can use are Zandy trolls with the males being 8’ 2". But in-game Blizzard has an odd habit of making races either too small or too big seemingly randomly. Take Worgen for example they should be 8’ according to lore but in-game they are 6’ 11". Oddly Pandarian are lore listed as human sized but in-game are 7’ 9". Personally I think a height slider should be added to the game and we let players choose but ya I find it odd how Blizzard just randomly sticks to non lore friendly heights for races. And keeps the large races all the same size. GW2 has a great example of how to take a 9 foot tall race and let them enter a city built for a race that is barely 4 feet.
The main thing is why do you think so many people want the Draconoid look? They want a larger creature look rather than a smaller look of the Dracthyr. Personally I love the look of my Dracthyr and other than the fact she’s too short in my book I would keep her with her current look. Just a personal preference.
evoker’s are, established in canon lore, as the very few selected and ‘gifted’ dracthyr chosen to lead non-evoker dracthyr…and you want evokers to be other races?
Ion flat out said no other race will ever be able to be an evoker. Could they change their mind? Sure… Expect it to be 10 years or so at best if you’re lucky. The empowered spells were literally designed to be cast by dracthyr (as per Blizzard in interviews). Hang on to your hopium, but it ain’t happening, at least not for a very long time.
