Playing WoW on a Chromebook

So, school is really slow right now, I’ve got more study halls than I need. I could make the periods go by 10x faster if I was able to casually level some characters, but my only laptop is an Acer Chromebook R11.
I’m not techy enough to actually run WoW on it, so I was wondering if a remote access software would work, like LogMeIn or Splashtop. I don’t mind lag as I used to play on a potato Mac Mini averaging about 10-20 FPS.
I was wondering if there would be any type of input lag, and as I don’t use my Chromebook for much more than Google apps, how I would go about doing something like this.
Thanks

remote access software Is against the EULA. A chrome book will not run the game as its not a windows OS

No idea what this MVP is talking about, but this is how a remote solution would work.

You would have WoW installed on your home Windows PC and running with whatever remote client you want to use. Let’s say it’s GoToMyPC, since I’ve used that one before. Then if your remote service has Chromebook client software, you can connect to your home PC and play WoW that way. But the performance will be pretty bad.

Any remote access software is against blizzard EUL. It is a ban able offence.

This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I question if he understands how computers work.

Tens of thousands of people use Remote Desktop clients and Windows has one built in. Some of these people play WoW. It’s no ones business where you are when you log in to your computer. The computer still connects to WoW the same way.

Any software that would allow him to play on a chrome book is against the EULA. If you are not physically siting in front of the computer you are playing on then you can get banned.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the OP is asking.

The OP wants to play the game on a chrome book which it will not run on. The other question he is asking if he can play the game remote on his chrome book. I understand his question

Leaving aside the disputed and probably unresolvable argument of permissibility according to the ToS, I’ll point out thay such a remote display capability would probably be deeply unsatisfying. Frame rates would be in the single digits per second. It would be playing WoW in slideshow format.

Also consider the probable technical difficulty of tunneling the traffic between your school and your PC, and the network risk of opening a firewall exception for the traffic. And yes, I am a network engineer.

Consider not only the frame per second performance Sniperorc mentions, but the input lag will be pretty bad and additive to the existing world input lag that everyone is already experiencing.

I personally recommend reading a book in study hall.

Ok thanks so I may as well not even try, lol. I guess I’ll be sticking to my YouTube marathons during those periods.
I recall one Christmas during WoD where I used remote access to continue camping Poundfist so I could play while my family was celebrating downstairs (horrible family member I know!!), I don’t remember how exactly I did it but it was on an extremely old Macbook and it was maintaining around 8fps. Not necessarily fun but I did end up getting the mount lmao

You motherf**king haterz,
let the man slay at 9 frames per second. I once killed 10 horde with my gnome mage at 5 frames per second!!! xD

Chromebooks are starting to get Linux support with GPU acceleration this could be a good way to get it set up.

I more complex way is to use something like Crouton to use Linux on a Chromebook.

You would use Lutris to set up World of Warcraft on Linux. In fact I got all Blizzard games to work.

How unfortunate. I was really looking forward to playing wow on my pixel book go :frowning: .
