I have to be honest: playing WoW feels like Work.
After a very stressful day I login and then have to start mindlessly ticking boxes of what needs to be done for the day and for the week.
The Contrast to that is when I play Classic it feels like I want to get somewhere and I want to explore something. There’s no requirement for me to do something today or tomorrow or for this week I only have to play and that’s all I need to do. If I don’t feel like playing then I don’t, and the game respect me for that.
The game feels like a chore because they want me to keep logging back in just like those bad mobile games.
I just wish retail could fix that so I could enjoy it like aí did classic.

Weekly/daily reward systems SUCK! Let people play when they want. Remove stupid currency caps, less timegating, no diminishing returns on Torghast, gear from the CONTENT and not the VAULT.

Remember when it was explained that Helheim was a place where people constantly strived for glory, but could never earn it?

The logistics in that game just annoyed me.

I used to sub in 3 month increments with real money.
Seeing the game become more of a regular chore, I decided to let some chump pay $20 to Blizzard for my sub. He gets gold, I get a month’s sub and Blizzard gets more money.
Everyone wins. I turned Blizzard’s chores against them in a way where I would rather not add my own money to their stockpile even if I can afford it.

It’s ok to play other games that don’t make you feel this way. Try Dark Souls out. It’s very beginner friendly.

The poster above me is lying - Dark Souls is very hard. If you’d like a recommendation, Cookie Clicker is more fun, addicting, and easy to get into! I, myself, switched from WoW to cookie clicker recently, and it leaves me with enough time to still log into WoW every now and then.

I honestly wish they would just bring back Rep Tabards. Dailies have always felt like a chore to me.

I notice they tend to do the opposite of what most people want. Maybe we should do some reverse psychology on them.
I wish they’d add more rares with a wait time of 2 to 8+ hours. Actually, I hope it could be anywhere in a 24 hour period. I sure hope the drop rate on it’s items is less than 0.5% too.

What game are you talking about? Did you mean to respond to me? I was simply comparing playing modern WoW to being trapped in Helheim
Helheim.
I might might’ve been fun figuring out what to do for the first time but onwards it’d just get annoying.
Oh. I was just talking about WoW’s realm of Helheim. I didn’t get the joke. Cheers.
It feels like work if you let it feel like work. Personally i let go because i know this game is the quintessence of “slow but steady wins the race”. Sure i’ll never play in a Limit-style guild doing that, don’t care for it, but anytime i managed to get goals achieved in this game it was through simply being consistent with it.
Trying too hard burnt me out or forced me in toxic situations every time.

Hate people who complain about this. Do you not understand what kind of game this is? all MMORPG/most modern games have these systems. The game has been like this since start, quit lying to yourself
I was exhausted from work yesterday and then raid for 2.5 hours when I got home at 8pm. I wanted to to bed after my dailies around 11pm but then I remembered I had stay up longer to do the assaults just in case I couldn’t do them before they reset at 7pm tonight.
And i hate when people say this stuff. While you are right to a degree that MMO’s have these kinds of systems, they are usually hidden away in the background while you as a player don’t usually notice that they are even there. WoW used to be good with hiding these systems, but nowadays they just don’t care if you get any enjoyment from the game.
The game doesn’t feel enjoyable because its not produced as a game anymore, its a live service that’s designed to make you stay logged in for longer and its not afraid to pull the punches at the cost of player enjoyment.
Saying that “oh MMO’s are all like that” while somewhat true, doesn’t help the gripe people have with this game nowadays. The game leads to player burnout and that is not going to be good in the long run for any of us. Current design of the game is the same like with companies that constantly change their workers because the old ones eventually ask for a higher pay. Its easier to simply replace them. Its better to have systems that boost the numbers and keep the investors happy while having new players on a constant cycle than to try to please older fans because its easier and it costs less.
While you might find enjoyment in the current model, and i respect that, please note that there are many that do not and their opinion is as valid as yours. Nobody likes to feel like their time and money has been wasted, especially in these hard times. People need to vent their dissatisfaction.

That is because WoW is the fruits of the work, tasks, and chores that everyone is trying to avoid and running away from.
