On Chapter 3 of the Witcher 1. One of the best RPG games I’ve ever played despite its dated game play. Every time I see a dwarf or elf I want to make a new character in WoW, but then I realize I play for mostly the intriguing story that WoW really does not offer. Makes me wish WoW had a modern single player story driven based game with real RPG elements and decisions. Please?
I do wish WoW had a central storyline that played like a solo RPG.
You should read the books! I find them even more entertaining then the games >.>
It’s an MMO… not a SINGLE PLAYER rpg. Sorry to burst the bubble. Maybe soon when they succumb to the waves of single players folks that want that. It’s just a different world in terms of design.
This last week, the Xbox One had the Complete Edition Witcher 3 for $14 I’ve never played any of them, having just watched the excellent show.
I’ve not started playing it yet, but looks spiffy.
Of course it is! I play that way 99.9 percent of the time! The one MMORPG facet that I am involved with, the most, is the AH That would be very difficult to replicate realistically, in a single player game.
But I might have to come out of my shell, for 8.3 and 430 gear from Raid finder (LFR Hero time?)
Fun fact: due to the popularity of the Netflix show, Witcher 3 just recently broke it’s concurrent user record on steam. It’s previous record was made at the games initial launch.
It’s a different world in terms of design to create an immersive, well-designed single player story in an MMO world that just didn’t take away everything that MMO’s are for… (might as well just play a single player rpg lol)
Funny how basically every successful MMORPG has a central overarching storyline with the player character taking center stage in a solo capacity but we’re just no-names with no voice acting, writing, or cinematic moments.
Different game, different age. Old games don’t all tend to be able to facilitate that.
Designing such things for WoW is different than say, FF14.
So you’re telling me Blizzard can’t write some basic lines and voice our main characters in quests? Is this the dark ages or something?
No it’s finance and numbers. They see what they can’t and cannot do. They know how that all works for them, how much time it’d take… if it’s worth it… do people skip it or bother listening to it… how much feed back they get of people complaining of the talking heads in Legion for example that they disliked.
It’s about being a little open minded and not so naive and narrow minded only seeing your own perspective.
Isn’t this… exactly what you’re doing?
No I’m being open minded to every possibility without thinking that they should do this or that 'cause it’s the 21st century.
They still do pisspoor graphics while other mmo’s have awesome graphics, should warcraft update that… they are capable of doing it… why not…
You’re comparing a total system overhaul to adding basic PC dialogue and voice acting.
This is comically bad.
They have done lots. You are ignoring lots. What are we discussing anymore.
Nothing, clearly. I’m requesting a basic industry standard for the game I’ve invested over $2k lifetime into, so clearly I’m just undeserving or something.
There is only one game: World of Warcraft.
Everything else is a lie and do not exist.
They also just cracked a partnership with the author! We’ll be getting another game I believe in the Witcher universe, as well as him to make graphic novels! And Witcher board games ;D hopefully we get GWENT IRL!!
I don’t honestly care. All I’m saying is if you are treating this as some easy fix than maybe I’m wrong… I think there is more to it and while I’d love to have a masterfully audio recorded session for my story experience in WoW… it’s IMO not that easy and one takes into account more than just boom record audio, done.
(Just not that straight forward)
They’d need to actually make quest text matter enough for me to even want voice acted lines. THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of them.
I want a voice acted main story. Not retroactive voice acting for fifteen years of random sidequests.
Kill the hyperbole. You’re not helping your case.
