Playing Streamer Realm vs. Normal

sigh I’m having trouble deciding

Part of me wants to play with the excitement of the big wigs on a streamer server but the other part of me wants the true authentic vanilla experience that isn’t a rush to 60, and since I never experienced it in 2004 this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to really savor every moment…

Playing on a streamer server might be cool because you’re playing with and in front of so many people but maybe it might take away from the experience?

I feel like this is such a hard decision and a once in a life time opportunity… which would you pick?

also consider the potential population plummet on streamer realms when the streamers leave.

I think this is the first I’ve seen of someone wanting to play on a streamer server FOR the streamer on these forums.

Well, if you plan on actually playing a long time, I’d say find a nice home to settle in with a nice PvE guild. From what I’ve seen of some of those streamers, they have some ADHD going on and will hop on to the next thing for more streams. And their fanbase will just follow them.

If you don’t care about the long term, then sure, go play with the streamers.

I’m actually leaning towards playing on a streamer server because one of the things I completely loved about Vanilla WoW was all the open world, random player created world events. I would expect many of these types of things where some of the bigger streamers are. People can hate them all they like I suppose, but I personally just want to play the game and have some fun.

I will probably at least have one character there to see how it goes anyways.

That seems reasonable and certainly doesn’t stop you from enjoying things elsewhere as well.

Exactly.

I might decide this is a blast and love it, or, I hate this and go elsewhere lol. But regardless, I am really looking forward to some fun open world events.

A streamer server is never really anything I’m shooting for, but I do have my characters spread around so I can decide where I really want to settle when launch comes. No one has to pick just one thing. And I’m going to make even more characters as soon as I can Monday morning.

This is pretty much the same idea.

Maybe instead of pouring awe and admiration into someone who plays a game for a living “real life sports included” maybe forge your own path?

Maybe it’s just me, but whether a streamer is on the server I choose or not means absolutely nothing to me. I am on the server to play the game my way. Whether a streamer is on that server or not doesn’t change things.

But you do you, neighbour. If playing on the same server as a streamer is so important to you, then be sure to pick a server you know a streamer is on.

1: That isn’t how ADHD works. I know as I have it.

2: Of course they will hop onto the next big thing. That’s how having a job streaming works.

It was hyperbole, obviously that’s not how ADHD works.

Sadly some think disorders are just “Me me me” stuff. Like having a disorder is just for attention grabbing.

Why the condescension?

I’ve seen this exact response used to defend a lot of streamer behavior. Clearly, this is their job and they need to keep streams high but it really is used too much to defend everything.

My point was, if you plan on doing any meaningful long term PvE stuff, as OP said:

then don’t hitch your wagon to a train that’s gonna leave without giving you a second thought. Find a home that fits what you want.

Of course, if that home is the streamer thing on a streamer server, do it to it my man.

Could not care less about the “big wig” streamers.

Do you honestly believe that any server won’t have at least one per faction (and possibly more) large streamers ?
There is no ‘streamer’ server, there is only PvP, Normal, RP, RP-PvP

Waiting out the initial rush and starting with leveling an alt to test the waters is an option, OP.

Why not both?
