There’s a fix for that called classic, where you have almost no abilities or mechanics
uhm wait what? classic is FILLED with flavor abilties. warlocks have like almost 6 bars of abilities.
Classic lacks the graphics and QoL changes that retail has.
Telling people to play Classic doesn’t fix the button bloat issue that is on retail.
if you think demon hunters have button bloat…just wow. or assassination rogues. or arms warriors.
The problem is, a newbie isn’t going to know that. Especially a casual newbie. There needs to be an aspects of the game that is specifically crafted for the lowest common denominator. Hence, a hand-held tutorial experience/story so far for new players. New players should not be intermingled with the current community.
Both my resto sham and arms warrior are at 62 and the resto sham has 3 bars+ of abilities lol. Arms is a breeze.
I was a warlock in OG vanilla, you used like 4 buttons 90% of the time.
There should be, but there never will be. Blizzard has 0 interest in it.
They won’t even let M0+ be in LFG so new players can practice M+ before dipping their feet in it for real.
not talking about the buttons you used talking about ALL OF THEM.
I always wondered why this wasn’t the case. I started in Cata and the heroic dungeons in Cata were harder than M0’s now.
Yeah I duno, I guess I can just relate with his struggle. I geared/pushed 10-16 keys on 4 alts last week trying to think of an alt to screw around on. There’s so much homework that goes into really playing something fairly well, it just wasn’t that much fun for me to be halfway lost on alts–so I totally get why newer or less experienced players hit a wall.
Also, for the people discussing classic. I found the hardest part about classic is maintaining mana, so you still have a ton of buttons from keying different ranks of the same spells, etc.
I think some people don’t agree button bloat is real because they have been playing for a while and know that most people only use a third of the buttons they get at most ever, but the thing is the game never explains that to new players. You have to look up a guide for that info.
Hell, when I start a new Shaman, the woman on the tutorial island tells me to use lightning bolt when the enemy is far away and the melee attack when the enemy is close. That NEVER happens again after you leave the island.
if you want to go that way. go shadowbolt spam destruction tbc. 3 button rotation. 3k dps.
Nah they would have just avoided making the thread in that case. I mean, its technically shower thoughts. No real discussion to be had.
For the fourth time, describe what button bloat is.
The entirety of the leveling experience and queued content magically disappeared? And why should they not be intermingled?
Do you know the issues of raising something in isolated captivity and then trying to introduce it into a populated area? It never works out well
Too many buttons available
Thats called burnout
Once i hit my gials with my main i go crazy on alts. I think its a blast learning new specs or learning the changes after a couple year break
I’ve always felt this way…always been a fan of “pruning”, and I know I’m in the minority. I think part of the reason I don’t play the game anymore is just the sheer amount of buttons, systems, and everything else going on, it’s overwhelming for a guy that is easily over stimulated. Just speaking for myself though.
Im aware what it is. But the person im.asking keeps mixing up optimal rotation and ability sequence with button bloat. So im asking him to clarify because he has no idea what hes talking about so he ignores the question.
But for sake of argument, whats considered too many available? Due to the GCD i can only use 1 ability at a time. So is 2 considered bloat since i have more than i can use?
Most rotations just have simple queries you have to make before choosing which priority to follow
If var A B C are true follow X
If var A C are True follow Y
If var a or b or c are true follow Z
Rotations still never exceed 10 abilities (if that) yet somehow people think its complex because you behave differently when you’re resource / cooldown capped vs not
and the reason i quit in wod was because of pruning. made the game so braindead and boring.
