Playing on multiple servers, why or why not?

Simple question, I’m just curious why people choose to play multiple servers if they play multiple, or why they stick to one server if they only play on one.

For me personally, I prefer having my characters spread across multiple servers for 2 reasons:

  1. I dread having to scroll through a long list of characters on the character select screen so I prefer to have them split apart. I know when TWW drops it’s gonna change and I’ll have to deal, but that’s life I suppose

  2. Access to multiple auction houses for xmog

How about you? What’s your preference and why?

One Horde, one Alliance. That was the norm for those who played both sides at one point.

I play in multiple due to roleplaying. I’m on Moon Guard for Alliance RP, where I run a guild, and Wyrmrest for Horde RP— although not anymore on WrA. I left after an incident of extreme male chauvinism with one of the guilds over there where a bunch of people just left, not wanting to deal with it. And then I have my guild on Sentinels that I’ve run since Vanilla.

I have characters on several realms; originally it was mainly just two but I went on an alt leveling spree in SL

If you have friends willing to help transfer gold for you (or if Blizz enables cross-realm mail, which doesn’t seem logical at all to continue blocking anyway) then it’s not bad. You can get deals on transmog, you can get your preferred character names, etc.

What I don’t like about it is that I usually fulfill my own crafting orders on my main realm and I just can’t be bothered to do the profession grinds on my alt realms

My Alliance Characters are on Proudmoore and my Horde Characters are on Tich.

Those are the most populated PST servers. Proudmoore for the Alliance, and Tich for Horde.

This is unfortunate, but I’m glad you chose to remove yourself from that <3

Yeah, this one is a big one for me as well. I know it won’t affect DF, but hopefully the shift to Warbands in 11.0 helps a lot with it

The guild is Horde so I just keep all my Horde characters on that realm and though there’s a sister Alliance guild, I already had created some Alliance characters on MG and just cont to keep them separate.

Me?

Gold making and sometimes the odd want of playing fresh.

With these professions, I realized how bad that is now and pain in the behind to keep up.

I do personally not like having that ‘’‘long list’’ of characters and would love to do everything on one main.

I play on multiple servers, the primary reason being though I have different servers for different things. On Gorefiend, I am dad. I am the guild master. The raid leader. So on.

On MG and WRA, I like to RP, where I can write a lot of things. Writing is fun for me.

And sometimes, I have “escape pod” realms. Where I can go and just kinda bum around and troll trade chat for fun, or go level something with music nice and loud and I have no responsibilities.

I’m sticking to Horde Moon Guard, for better or worse.

I tried others like PvP Sargeras and Bronzebeard was my first ever server.

I like being the underdog on MG. Although, I’ve been in WM for awhile just to spice things up
