Is it odd to play Horde on a high population Alliance server nowadays? Like Stormrage. And vice versa. Especially taking into account that guilds will be cross realm in TWW.
I’m playing Alliance on Illidan, the Horde equivalent to Stormrage.
Do you notice anything missing for you there? Like if Stormwind was empty or something
I’m barely in Stormwind and it’s only for the monthly Trading Post collection.
Goodness!
I played on Illidan during MoP, following some guildies there. We were Horde. Alliance was so rare that throughout the expansion I could count how many Alliance characters I ever saw on one hand.
It was a PvP server at the time but nobody I knew killed Alliance there. The mindset was to leave them alone. Alliance DID get chased but it was usually by people grabbing screenshots to prove they’d found a unicorn.
I only switched to Illidan around Battle for Azeroth when War Mode replaced the PvP server system.
Realms have very little impact on gameplay these days.
It only matters if you care/use the AH and War Mode.
Oh, and guilds if you’re a guild person.

Genuinely curious, not trying to start anything:
What made you decide to go Alliance on an overwhelmingly Horde server?
Doesn’t really matter much these days. If you are into PvP then going Horde on Moon Guard could be fun if you want to bait some fools into PvP in Westfall.
Most of my Alliance toons are on Stormrage, with most of my Horde being on Thrall.
I have 1 Horde Paladin on Stormrage that I play often, but with cross-faction guilds it doesn’t really matter. If I’m in Orgrimmar, it’s only to use the portal room. Everything else, I don’t even notice Im Horde and often try to use the Stormwind portal instead lol
It doesn’t matter all that much where you play, anymore. A guildie has been inviting his IRL friends to our normal and heroic raids recently and they play horde on different servers.
You might have trouble finding crafters if there aren’t many players of the same faction on your server. Is crafting faction-specific? I don’t actually know.
The only issue is outdoor content so far. Not sure if they will change that.
We should be able to party with opposite faction ouside of instances, if warmode is off.
When I landed on Stormrage it was because I spend more time on my alliance alts than my horde, but I also dropped my horde alts there just for consistency of keeping them all together. I also found that it benefits if you like to sell on the AH-- I made 25k in gold to start rebuilding my alt army simply by selling the horde’s former starter zone mog gear that can be bought off of the vendors.
Yes, I am, more instanced PvP though, most “PvP servers” have a fame of being toxic, such as Tichondrius.
I was thinking of Dalaran too, since it seems more 50/50.

I was Horde on Illidan, but with the cross-faction gameplay and my preference for the Alliance races visually I swapped back but stayed on the server.
I have all my characters both Horde and Alliance on Thrall.
It will be a sea of orange.
