Playing ESO and missing WoW

I was disappointed with the BFA expansion to the extent that I cancelled myself, my fiance and my son’s subscription. I have been here on/off since Warcraft became an MMO. I love this game like no other.
We decided to give Elder Scrolls Online a try. I am a fan of the single player Elder Scrolls games.
It isn’t a bad game. Some of the things I wish were in WoW such as housing, the crafting system, the customization of characters, the incredible voice acting.

It’s also brooding, depressing, underwhelming, plain colors, plain characters.

But all of it falls flat in the face of World of Warcraft.
I miss the bright cartoony colors, the oversized characters, the larger than life story threads, the way you move your character with one hand. The distinction in classes, crafting abilities and races, the Us vs Them, the beautiful music, the rewarding sound and animation when you get a reward, so many things that if I wrote them no one would read this.

I will come back to WoW with the next expansion and to try classic. Maybe sooner.

Class mechanics and gameplay is what really keeps me playing. Its just too damn fun.

I think ESO is a great game tho. Having all wow classes in ESO would be a definite plus to them

I’ve been playing ESO on and off again while playing SWTOR. Both are good games. I like SWTOR a bit more than ESO because it feels like it has a better caster class with the sorc and conc classes. If I could merge the best of those two games together I’d do it.

ESO is finally giving us what WoW never did, Necromancers! And they can equip any weapons or armor so you can look like a Death Knight or a traditional hooded Necromancer.

I’m still pretty upset that WoW took away 2H Frost, and Unholy doesn’t feel like a Necromancer spec, only 1 ghoul, you can’t raise corpses, no dps around your pets, doesn’t feel like a real Necromancer class v_v

…Because it’s not a necromancer class. It’s a death knight class. I think the only time we’re going to see a necromancer class happen is if there’s a second Lich King expansion, which Blizzard appears to be building up to with all their Bolvar shenanigans. Though, TBH, I can’t see myself playing that once Classic is out.

I didn’t mind ESO. It was the first MMO since Dark Age of Camelot that I actually enjoyed the PvP and felt some faction pride while doing so. But every other MMO I play always just leaves me wishing it was WoW. I don’t know if its the time I have invested, or the nostalgia of all the fun I had with my friends and family in WoW, or if WoW really is a better game and I’m just cynical… whatever the reason there is one thing I know… I don’t like what WoW is today. I can’t pin down just one reason… i just know that I unsubbed a couple months ago and I don’t miss it. I miss what made me love WoW. I play many other games with my old wow friends, I play other MMOs, RPGs, etc… and I have fun while doing so, but never as much fun as i used to have in WoW. I’m hoping WoW classic will hook me again. I will resub and play classic. You hear that blizzard?! I WILL be giving you money for classic so hurry up!! But yeah… that turned into a rant. ESO is fun tho… but just didn’t hook me the way wow used to. :smiley:
