If you’re upset that SoM seems to be the hot popular fun new thing, you’re suffering from a retail player issue.
People who don’t understand playing video games unless there’s an arbitrary achievement graphic to unlock and flash on their screen for fake Points. If SoM is simply for fun, and there’s no tangible reward to acquire, it isn’t fun or worth playing to you guys.
You guys are so retail you can’t even hide it.
People play fresh for so many different reasons and they’ve done it for a decade on private servers while you guys get new expansions every two years that you mindlessly consume and then need distractions like in game pokemon. Retail players can’t be satisfied, they can’t understand so many people playing content they played a mere few months ago and it bothers them. Where they see new content as exciting, we see retail content as gimmicky and low quality. Retail players do not care about the quality, they want new whatever, period end of discussion.
That’s why we had a lot of retail players who plagued classic vanilla in 2019 because they used it as “new content” and couldn’t resist. Now that they’ve “done” it, they can’t see why you’d ever return. No one goes back to MoP, right? Thinks the retail player. Why would they go back to vanilla? Thinks the retail player. How are they having fun doing content they did 2 years ago? Thinks the retail player.
Classic era servers are dead because the content is widely on farm status, the server has lived through it’s progression and expired. Retail players think that means time for brand new content (tbc or retail content patch). Fresh is exciting and blizzard is capitalizing on it by utilizing seasonal updates and changes to make it even more engaging than the fresh Vanillas we have played for the past decade.
Go play retail if you don’t like vanilla, ez.

Yes I enjoy sharing my thoughts with other WoW players on a forum that was designed for wow discussion.
I must be the only one.

I could see playing SoM if you like Classic in general and want to check it out and/or invest in it because of all the little tweaks and changes.
Without that though to treat fresh starts as anything other than a psychological ploy you’re content to play on yourself is missing the mark.
This is copium, enjoy the tourist.
and this is known as seething.
I’ll never understand why wow’s playerbase is so tribalistic. Get over yourselves.
Well said OP.
It’s a psychological ploy to play a video game with your friends? This specific video game, vanilla wow is a psychological ploy? But if we were playing New World or Battlefield it wouldn’t be a psychological ploy? Dat logic.
Alright guys, Corpseknife the fun police administration is here to tell you how you spend your free time is actually not fun and playing this video game version, not retail though, specifically is a psychological ploy we are all in denial about.

When your game needs mini games inside of mini games I think it means you can’t be satisfied.

Op is right, haters gonna hate. SoM is doing fine.
The idea you cant go back into MC because the server has progressed beyond it or the server is kaput after a guild or two clears Naxx is a joke.
Unless you got some hardcore fetish for a scarab mount and title there’s zero reason to restart vanilla over and over again.
Which is why they have to do it in seasons and add wrinkles too it going forward because what would be the point otherwise? Classic servers already exist.
People who constantly need fresh restarts to keep it interesting for them are basically just tricking themselves into thinking its a “new” experience when in reality its not.
Says you. People like leveling in vanilla and vanilla content. Stay mad SoM is doing fine.

Every time I play vanilla it’s a different experience than the last one. That’s what you guys don’t understand. You think in a linear fashion while vanilla players enjoy the actual game 1-60, end game aspirations, and how that journey is ever so slightly different each new server.
With blizzard fully on board recruiting the TLP Everquest executive employee and SoM being a glimpse of what the future holds, the sky is the limit and vanilla wow looks better than ever.

Mad because he has no new players to lord over in his “epic” gear on his old dead server.

Yeah? And? So do I. The point stands: You don’t need a new server to level in vanilla and do vanilla content.
If you prefer it that way that’s all fine and dandy but its not a superior way to enjoy vanilla content.
That’s funny because fresh server advocates always talk about the leveling of the playing field that comes when you start anew - as if they got some kind of hang up about what other people have - which they’ve demonstrated repeatedly in their arguments - so you got this backwards.
How so? I’m not angry at all.
It’s day two… of course it’s doing fine?
It would be silly for anyone to think it’s not doing well on day two, I’d hope it would be succeeding for how new it is. As far as I’m concerned it’s a success from Blizzard, even if players only end up playing for a month or two. The cash grab was successful.
I do. I went to Era several times. No one to do leveling dungeons with, or the elite quests. I’m in a large wonderful world completely barren of players. It feels like those movies where the world has ended and you are all alone.
