Players need to stop playing FOTM classes

Any class, any spec, any DPS, any tank and any healer are capable of doing an M10, but not every player can. And choosing the FOTM class is just making things worse for you and for everybody you group with.

I get it, but do you?

If you play an FOTM class you think it will give you more invites, and it probably will, but if you can’t actually perform all that it means are more groups are going to fall apart, more people are going to leave, more people are going to give up entirely on M+.

What’s actually better is if you learn to properly play your favourite, or best class you can play instead of swapping to try and get an advantage. Not only does always swapping mean you are not the best you can be, it also means when the inevitable nerfs happen you do what? You swap again?

We need a way to tell what you, the player, is capable off so you can all play your favourite spec instead of players swapping around to try and get an edge due to the class they play. A good player using a bad spec will always beat a bad player using any spec.

What if people’s favorite specs just happen to be FOTM?

And what if they love the spec they play but aren’t the best at it?

You do what you do to get invited. Only got my KSM early on by playing a Resto Shaman. Even though I am better at Druid, nobody wanted to invite my Druid. So Resto Shaman it was :person_shrugging:

I admit I did it.

I started the season as Monk. Performed alright for my guild and got KSM on it.

I didn’t push higher but for the same 8-10 range I found myself getting fewer invites so I stuck to keys with friends.

Swapped to Protection Paladin. Really fun and it has so much utility even if you choose to not take everything as per the guide. It can come in handy especially in a group if interrupts are missed by other players. Stun on one, normal int on another, shield int and divine toll every min (plus the extras it shoots out). Separate to that Brez + full heal and immunity. :100: worth the swap.

been playing my enhance shaman since I started, and will be playing him till the end. Same with outlaw and survival. Meta. Not meta. Don’t matter to me.

Only if youre strictly picking meta classes. As part of thr BTM movement, im having smoother runs outside the fotm rerolling Retadins

never started.

or people can just play what they want to play and anybody who has a problem with it can create their own groups that don’t include randoms.

Doesn’t really matter what should happen or what people want to play.

Metas form for a reason. It mostly only matters at the upper end, but if they’re good at that level they’re good at lower levels, so the mentality trickles down.

So if someone is less interested in playing a specific spec and more interested in just getting into the game and playing / pushing, they play FotM so they aren’t sitting in a sea of declined applications for 3 hours.

And that’s totally fair.

And completely unavoidable without 100% homogenizing every spec to an insane degree.

My first toon ever is a NE feral druid, yeah that vanilla vid got to me :grinning:, she’s been a feral druid since the beginning, dont think I ever changed her spec either. Feral ever been meta? I dunno and I do not care.

Second toon is a lock, wanted a pet class but there were hunters EVERYWHERE! So I went lock. Got hooked on aff till for giggles in wotlk, I specced demo… Friggin metamorphosis machine fun sbolt!!! And a big axe murderin psycopath for a pet instead of the blueberry? Hell yeah! No idea if it was ever meta, she still traipsing around with the axe murderin felguard.

Third toon is a NE priest, saw a spriest melt faces sometimes in vanilla and gave it a try. Sure am not the best spriest, but I like that dot machine!

Fourth toon is a dranei mage. Had to give dranei a go in bc! She was fire for a good long while, but I got tired of casting while something was making its way to me. Yeah again, not the best mage out there. Changed her to frost, much better!

Fifth toon is the unholy DK, yeah am gonna whale on you with a big sword while my ghoul try’s to climb on you and bite your nose! She started as a gnome and spent a while in that first inn in hellfire. Then transmog came along and a glimpse of glorious set and now shes a NE unholly DK!

Sixth toon is a dranei elemental shammy, I made her in wotlk. Wanted a scribe so yeah, a shammy that reads and write… Always been elemental… and so she remains!

Seventh toon is a NE BM hunter. Made her in cata I think… When they removed the friggin quivers, when was that?? Anyway, wanted a two-headed dog biting ankles and stuff… Has to be BM for that!

So there! That is roughly half the alt-army! In the specced that I LIKE with them! Is it meta? Or has it been meta at any point? I do not care!

The issue is that they are good at high levels not just because they are good classes, but also because they gel well with the other 5-6 meta specs and mostly because the players themselves are good at them.

Picking a meta class, not knowing how to play them, and playing with non-meta classes does not net the same result. There are multiple reasons why a good spec is good. Do either of the following in taking out Pi, or lust/hero, maybe drop the evoker or just change the shaman and DK to something that benefits less from aug and priest and all of a sudden they will be doing M12-13 at best.

Players need to realise it’s 3 fold, these players are good because they are just good players, but they also practice their spec in a premade setup co-ordinating their kicks and CC with pre-planned specific routes to utilise their CD’s and lust, and they are grouped in a specific manner that makes them even better.

Picking a random FOTM spec and pugging into a random M8 group, that’s not going to even come close to having the same results.

AllClasses/AllRaces might help.
The Developers also might stop playing
the OP/Nerf game.
And it IS a game designed to preoccupy/to distract
from the fact that they have done little to
evolve the basic game.

But this is my first and only toon I’ve played seriously with. Do I have to drop her to avoid being a fomo?

Sounds like you want everybody who doesn’t measure up to your exacting standards to quit the game and uninstall.

When you pay for other players accounts you can tell them what they get to play. Till them who cares if someone plays FotM. I just play what I want and right now what I want to play is Colossus arms and prot. I enjoy it and so I play it.

You have people who want to just reroll constantly for fotm and it’s just a shoddy way to play the game imo but hey I ain’t payin their sub so they can do as they please.

Ima judge em for it though.

No…
You can play whatever class and spec you want to play.
In fact, we all can.

Not everyone you play with wants to stop at 10. Once you get into the higher keys, if you aren’t playing FOTM then you aren’t playing at all.

Really? I’ve never had too much issue getting into keys

There are like 8 people that still main a Rogue lol :upside_down_face:
