Players in pugs attempting to do mythic+ keys above their ilvl, raider.io rating, and skill level needs to stop

Often when I join a mid-level key to tank in a pug, there are players in the groups who fail on basic mechanics or get blown up due to their low ilvl. Players in pugs attempting to do mythic+ keys above their ilvl, raider io rating, and skill level thinking they are going to get free carries needs to stop, this is the biggest contributing factor to people leaving in the middle of keys. I only do key levels based upon my ilvl, raider io rating, and I memorized routes and mechanics for all the dungeons, and for the sake of pugging they should too instead of wasting their groups time trying to carry them, please make this torture from the mythic+ pugging scene stop.

There are a lot of boosted 2k+ io players failing at the first bosses like AA in mid to high tier keys. It’s ridiculous how they waste everyone else’s time in groups. I can see why others leave keys when these players don’t even know basic mechanics or lack the DPS meters. It’s irritating not knowing who actually built their way up to the top and who just paid for it before playing with them. There needs to be some kind of way to show if these players paid for their ilvl/rating before you join their groups or add them to your own so they don’t waste your time.

The raider io boosting must stop. WoW needs a lockout for these low ilvl/raider io rating players from higher lvl mythic+ groups until these players are the correct ilvl and raider io before being able to make or join groups with other strangers to leech off them or get boosted. It’s not a hard thing to ask for these players to be at least max ilvl for the content they are trying to clear to the next mythic+ rating. These types of players are the #1 reason for failed keys in pugs due to their selfishness.

I understand if it was a group of friends or guildmates, but I don’t know how anyone can defend players trying to leech off the raider io and ilvl of other strangers and increase the risk of the pug group bricking their key, especially if they don’t even know the mechanics to begin with. If you defend this type of degenerate behavior, then you are part of the problem, and probably leech yourself.

Raider io score and i-level information is easy enough to access. Why aren’t you checking these out before you start running dungeons with those people? I’m not condoning the practice by any means, but it just seems like you can tell from their score or health pretty quickly before you even enter the dungeon. If anything seems off, leave the group before the dungeon is even started.

Easiest solution to this is just stop pugging. You’re a tank, it’s not hard to find a permanent spot in an organized group.

It is natural and normal for people to be bad at judging their own mastery of complex skills. So don’t invite them.

Lol above their IO score…
“lf 2.5k+ for a 20… that 20 will give maybe 250 points.”

They don’t and they won’t. They got that key somehow so they should be able to try it. Yes you are going to fail some keys, yes 80% of the time it’s not your fault (because there are 5 of you up in there) get used to it. Even if they had perfect gear and 3500 score they’d be messing up or getting one-shot at some level (probably higher but still).

100% agree.

I’m gonna sign up to 20s and hope for the best.

You can’t stop me.

Someone hasn’t heard the phrase “Shoot your shot” and it shows.

Honestly it not always their fault. I had my keys boosted beyond my ability on easy dungeons and then I get a really high key for a dungeon I haven’t stepped into ever. It’s easy to go +2,+5,+8 from scratch. The only thing I can do is to downgrade my key or just risk and fail.

Thats because they got carried for bonus valor in keys and have no idea how to do keys or mechanics

just decline em all. ez

This is why you invite players who have completed that dungeon in time close to the level you are doing.

For example, if you do a +10 key, make sure they timed that dungeon on at least a +8 previous.

Though, I moved this character up into 10’s this week and honestly knowing the dungeon/your class > your ilvl. Ilvl doesn’t mean much, and often lower ilvl players will just do better if they are an already experienced player.

It’s Tyrannical, to be honest.

People level their alts AFK in Nok or during timewalks and never touch DF content until 70 + 5 sparks + a set of WQ/Wrathion gear. Then you throw Tyrannical into that mix. They didn’t know the boss mechanics to begin with, and now the boss lives longer so there’s even more of them. They also do more damage, so they’re more punishing – and there’s more of them.

It puts new players into a blender where they just get smeared by Tyrannical because watching a 10 second youtube video is harder than clicking “sign up”, but they can crush fortified weeks because any boss with any variation of difficulty you just mash hero and put into the dirt.

i guess people should quit carrying people for valor eh? then people get a higher keys while knowing nothing. yes lowering ilvl drops in dungeons and making you farm valor was a great idea. i don’t even do no keys anymore hardly i invited people to a measly 6 ruby it was hilarious they just as high ilvl had no clue and died numerous times i just laughed and there io’s were higher than mine i take it they been getting carried for valor yes great idea.

I’d say timed one close to the level you are doing OR have untimed of the same level. This is because some might be working on certain levels of keys (I am doing +16s and +17s,timed some) and might have the experience but the nature of pugs drags them down.
