what is everyones thought on an in game voting system like the one OSRS has where players vote for changes?
Nope, the game is already designed, nothing to vote on. The no changes people drastically outnumber the changes people, so a vote is pointless.
A voting system to vote on… changes? Let’s test it out in this community!
Heart OP if you’d to vote for changes. Heart here if you’d like no changes.
This is the museum recreation. Not a progressive MMO.
We can vote on the new MMO when they see how popular the static museum piece is.
There’s already a game called World of Warcraft that has implemented many changes based on expectations that the playerbase would consider them to be improvements…in many cases, expectations that resulted from forum posts. It will continue to implement changes. If that’s what you want, by all means, play it.
The system you refer to didn’t work in OSRS, and it would drive me, and from their posts here many other people, away from the game instantly–which would mean that those who were okay with changes would automatically win all votes.
Sounds like a solid idea for retail tbh
Not a discussion for Classic. If they ever do a remastered version in the future, sure.
considering i have 14 years or so of experience seeing where changes leads too i’m going to have to vote no.
the entire goal of classic wow is to be an authentic recreation of vanilla wow.
No.
simply put No
two thoughts:
-
if the game company has an idea they want to go with, they just have their staff/friends/family propose it and vote it in . result = same. you have to propose ideas, present supporting reasons/rationale and cross your fingers that you’ve managed to create a strong enough concept that they entertain or use parts or all of it
-
maybe if they make a classic+ the voting system could work for it, but i dunno, just based on the fact that game companies are infamous for doing what they want, regardless.
/me Ready check: click ready for attempting the next boss. No for calling it.
The only vote system needed.
Well, at least we can take bets on, how long it takes to catch up with BFA mechanics if voting is in
I think they should let us vote on if people that make these threads should be allowed to play Classic because they will whine the whole time about changes. If we vote no then no Classic for them.
For Retail? Sure. Although the old quote still rings true “The strongest argument against democracy is a 5min conversation with the average voter”
For Classic? What’s the point in a system for voting on changes? There aren’t going to be any changes. #Nochanges
Let me ask the museum if we can make changes to the Mona Lisa.
I sound like a broken record, but when I read a thread like the OP I instantly think, “I bet he’s posting on a character with 0 posts.”
And…yup.
case in point is the infamous high elf debacle at the beginning of bfa. blizzard requested the players login to the forums and propose which allied races they wanted included in the game *an allied race is a race you can faction grind to gain access to as a playable character on the character creation screen.
like clockwork, as has been true with every version of the game since vanilla, high elf fans went nuts asking for high elves to be an allied race for the alliance. they complained that void elves felt pasted in with weak to zero lore, and that high elves and/or the silver covenant faction had been in the game since warcraft games and tbc and had stayed true to the alliance through out, a noble and trustworthy lot, who didnt follow kael’thas and do the fel magic thing.
blood elves who didnt want their character models copied yet again, were incensed with the idea. horde and alliance players who didnt want more elves of any kind, were up in arms over it. the forums melted down with spammed threads on why the high elves should or shouldn’t be allowed in the game as a playable allied race. people were getting banned left and right, called racists and so on.
youtubers made videos about it, artists did variant models, some even creating maps, lore, 2d arts, starting cities, 3d art, mounts, music, quests, and some proposed half elves instead with gorgeous models to support it all. even high elf san’layn were being proposed though in a separate thread.
the famous youtubers taliesin and evital, did a video supporting high elf allied race option, resulting in the most thumbs up on any of their videos, since they’ve been making videos and this is still true, several months later.
polls were created and alliance high elves always won top spot, and horde ogres won top horde option.
people came to the forums from all over the world, even europe, brazil and korea, to support high elves as alliance allied race.
as a result, during their first bfa question and answer session, the dev, ion hazzicostas (spelling?) was forced to reply and he said the following (paraphrased):
blood elves are high elves guys. if you want to play a high elf, the blood elves are waiting for you.
the forums disintegrated into …well it wasnt pretty. to this day, the high elf thread has the most posts and sustained interest in any topic on the game, and it’s still going.
votes wouldn’t have changed a thing as the devs have their own direction for the game, cause even when they invited us to vote on it, they still exercised the right to ignore the results (and that creates bad public relations). to date, the alliance still doesnt have high elves and the horde doesnt have ogres, the two most voted for options.
