Player made dungeons?

With the advent of housing, and players getting access to an instanced area that we can place and customize assets, is there any chance of a feature like this coming down the pipeline? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any kind of demand for it, but I also can’t think of any big name MMO’s that have tried it.

Could get fun if players are allowed to go as far as creating custom dungeons with encounter placement and control of what units go where.

not a chance of this happening in wow.

Custom Maps were a big part of what I enjoyed in Warcraft 3. Footman Wars, Survival, HOTA and TD were the best.

Unfortunately every game that tries this concept flops :dracthyr_cry:

The only way I can see this happening is a generated dungeon using preset options.
Mob types, density, boss counts, affixes, etc.
Then it could generate the dungeon based on what the lead or group sets.

Well, what would the demand be? I can’t imagine they’d let us make new mobs and abilities, nor truly new maps, so you’d basically be slapping mobs down and adjusting their health/damage scaling to make dungeons without rewards.

Was thinking the same. It would likely have to follow a predefined formula. Limited numbers of bosses, mob density, unit types, etc.

Oh man, please don’t give Blizzard ideas.

They are already using us as unpaid beta and alpha testers.

Though something akin to the hitman “make your own mission type” thing would be cool. Same for quests.

The maps would almost be possible now with enough space and decor limit. All you’re missing are mobs.

Tbh I don’t even think you have to limit boss counts.
Imagine someone generating a mega dungeon like og brd.

If a system like this was implemented, that’s what I would like to see. Options to create anything and everything between stockade and brd.

I think there’s a lot of creative potential and fun behind it if Blizz ever gets a wild hair. I think we could see some pretty cool dungeons or raids from the community

I think we’re a long way from dungeons, but folks have asked for ways to make scavenger hunts, puzzles, or conditionally lock doors (until a lever is interacted or a key is located, etc.).

I won’t be surprised if we get more interactive objects that let us start to create something like a dungeon without mobs - maybe escape room is a better comparison.

Going to have some Kaizo-WoW dungeons if this were ever a thing.

I tend to agree, but it is odd considering they let people have their way with maps in Starcraft and Warcraft all these years.

It would be a ginormous system to implement, but housing made me think of those parkour maps made in CS GO and it might be neat if they allowed you to make obstacle-like courses through housing.

My son & I also enjoyed custom maps in WC2, but those were RTS, not MMO-RPG. I agree with @FAleanna that there’s there probably “not a chance of this happening in WoW.”

That is such a fun idea I will make mega death dungeons, get ready to die! 99% will fail mythic mode of Elmyouu’s dungeon. Every mob will be night elf men casting ‘terrible fart’ (40 yard range AOE, applies a stacking debuff that increases AOE damage every stack) all the time and complaining about beans and eggs they ate. And you can only pull exactly 8 at a time

Yes I am aware the meta for my dungeon will be to bring Resto Druid + MM hunters who can outrange the farts. This is on purpose!

City of Heroes had Mission Architect. You could make up to 5 instanced missions amd tie them together with story as well as make your own villains to use.

Lol, no.

Every dungeon would be the Vault of Archavon with no trash amd all bosses in one room.
