That’s how most housing is. The location is fixed then the interior is instanced.

The problem with implementing player housing in a game like WoW is there are too many different groups (and sub-groups (and sub-sub-groups)) of players who all play the game differently, and have different wants and needs - and too many differing and conflicting opinions on every aspect.

If Blizzard were to attempt to please everyone (or even just most), they may as well call the exppansion after Last Tiran: Player Housing. Because they’d not have the time or resources for anything else, probably for a good while.

It is more than likely this has already been an ongoing project behind the scenes at Blizzard for a while. So they can avoid the situation that you are describing.

would be nice if they sto-Borrowed… the fallout 76 building thingamagig where you place down a camp anywhere you want 'n get a plot of land to build on.

You’re leaving out the important part of that quote. They said they didn’t want to do traditional player housing and this is their version of it.

So no, they don’t beg to differ.

Isn’t there already guild only activities in the guild achievements tab? Maybe they can change it up some, give a different flavor to it, so it’s not the same ones year after year. As far as player housing goes, I personally disliked Garrisons in WOD and having your own farm in MOP. Just you and a bunch of NPCs. The player world while you were in your own “hub” phased out. By reading the description of Blizzards version of player housing, it sounds like the same thing, with the exception of a few guildies mixed in with the NPCs. All three to me have a major isolation factor, and the MMORPG that it is, slowing diminishing. Sounds like a revamped, modern version of Ultima Online :unamused:

You’re correct that they wanted their version to be different. It failed. Why would you ever commit resources to something that hasn’t worked in the past?

Keep making the content that people are already doing. The stuff that is keeping people here. Garrisons killed WoD, housing would likely kill the expac it’s deployed in.

Not worth taking that risk again.

Unless you are a mage, don’t player’s have to go back to a major city to portal to the place of their choice. And a lot of times players just don’t run to the portal room, while in the city they might stop at their bank, AH, do a transmog, or just take another look at the trading post.

An excellent point. Imagine if they offered an apartment in Silvermoon, built in the Elven style. Just how many people who love playing elven races would be going there to establish that apartment, decorate it and invite friends for tea? It would be a Blood Elf bonanza I reckon.

If they added the feature that ESO has - the ability to port to your house - it would be even more popular.

Garrisons aren’t player housing so they haven’t failed yet.

And something they worked on in the past wasn’t a failure. I present:

Sunsong Ranch.

An instanced area of Halfhill in MoP where you worked on plots to plant crops, made small improvements to a building, had various animals wandering the area and even had a small mission table-type thing included.

Sunsong was very popular at the time (and I still go there to plant for Spheres of Harmony) worked pretty well (with the occasional small bug) and could easily have been expanded into a perfectly workable example of player housing.

Blood Elf bonanza ROFL! That’s tooo funny :joy:

You want Player Housing k…I want a title- 2004 Extraordinaire or 2004 Player Club -I have earned it. I have paid Whom ever owns this game ? - 20 years of 6 month subscriptions .

Real Money… 20 year 2004 Players should get a title. Maybe I’ll make a thread on it., Oh snap I think I will do that very soon… You Want your housing - I want what I deserve as a long term player… Will I ever get that achievement?? I doubt it but I DESERVE It… Go play house…I’ll play the game… eos ~

Sunsong was not popular because people liked it. Sunsong was popular because it was mandatory in order to make stuff we needed to use.

The amount of raging and complaining over the farm lead to Blizzard having to make a statement that it wouldn’t follow us into Warlords, because people were so angry over the farm.

~ Sendryn alt, because forums are bugged

But you won’t be able to get more furniture if you just sit around the house.

Also they would still need to go to the bank, AH, and other things in city if need be.

So you think people sitting around SW shrieking political hot-points to one another as if they’re trying to change people’s minds is ‘alive’?

well once you decorate your house fully, you’ll have no reason to leave…

so everyone will be sitting alone in their instanced player houses, isolated from the rest of the playerbase.

i don’t think that will be good for a game which is labelled as being part of the genre that is known as a “massively multiplayer online” rpg.

It’ll not be like Garrisons because you wouldn’t be able to access your AH or Bank from the house. SWTOR has housing and people still do dailies and questing.

FF14 has housing and I could log in right now and see an ocean of people not only in Limsa Lominsa, but also going out questing, gathering, and doing other things.

If they’re done with housing, they would go back to the city and run their errands.

Then what? Shriek political hot points to one another?

Also much like SWTOR, WoW could also put decor in raid drops, and most likely could sell them on the AH.

AND I know people who are interior decorators in games with Housing and make as much, if not more, than people who game the Auction House.

What makes you think people would just sit around their house doing nothing?

if SWTOR already has a player housing system you enjoy, why do you need another one in wow?
