Just curious how you folks would like to see player housing done if it ever does get done.

Honestly, couldnt care less. Blizzard will screw it up no matter how hard they try, so why even bother. lol.

But if they could do it right Id use it.

One to the great things about REAL player is it’s 100% optional so that wouldn’t be a problem.

Also, I think it’s important that somewhere out there we can list our homes as public. Users can visit them and leave us a like.

Kinda like my kid’s game PKXD. Not necessarily a housing suburb. That kind of thing would be interesting as a guild circle. Something added to the world not necessarily phased, but once you enter the guild house gates, it would be

If I could design it myself, I’d add houses like ESO, where there are different options in each zone based on that areas races, so like Elwyn Forest might have a little human style farm, maybe a stone tower, maybe a little castle or something, Darkshore would be NE themed, etc.

Each home, depending on size, would have interior space and outside space. We’d be able to set up some crafting areas and change what grows, so if I wanted to create a farm of Pandaria herbs I could. And like garrisons maybe we could place buildings like a stable to show off a couple mounts, maybe a workshop for the crafting, etc.

I also think it could add a TON of content for crafters. Imagine if they added expansion-themed crafting and you could get patterns/recipes by doing content in those expansions, maybe rare ones in Timewalking, things like that. And all crafting could have plenty to do. It could create a booming market for work orders to request crafters make Outland style tables or something. They could also maybe add woodcutting/woodworking as a new profession that can make bows, cross bows, staves and wands and shields, (and maybe a canoe mount!?) as well as tables and other wood furniture. I think the boom to crafting for years to come would be well worth a raid tier in one xpansion tbh.

Then we could also get ESO-like trophies for killing dungeon/raid bosses. Maybe bronze busts or statues for normal, silver for heroic, gold for mythic, etc.

I liked the housing system in OSRS, particularly with it’s relation to crafting. I played SWTOR for a bit and I thought there version was good. So a mix between OSRS crafting and SWTOR instance + placement.

What I’d prefer:

• Customizable space accessible via portals. Houses are not connected by default.
• One lot per character with no limits to the number of housing lots.
• 2-3 room layouts with multiple anchor points for features
• Different thematic tilesets (cave, dwarf, orc, elf, etc.) that you can mix and match from.
• A window that can look out on to a set location in any zone in the game. You want to look out on the Grizzly Hills or under the sea or the big honking sword that haunts your dreams, that’s where you set the window to look.
• Decorations/areas in the house that can reflect your professions
• Decorations/areas in the house that can reflect your class (like a weapon rack or set of your favorite armor)
• Crafting system expanded to include craftable furniture and housing elements. Give new value to old mats.
• No mechanical functions tied to the house. No gathering, crafting (except what can normally be crafted without specific crafting stations), mission table access, etc. It should complement what you want to do, not take over it.

If you think Garrisons were player housing then you have no clue what actual player housing.

he clearly hasnt played ESO, lol.
Ive got a list of houses there. Free hearth any time to any of your houses, so I spread them around the game map.
I use my garrison, but housing it aint.

That would be cool. Better than a transmog set window.

A mix of ESO’s n FFXIV’s. But that would rely on the WoW team being competent, and looking at how they attempted to copy FFXIV’s crafting system, i dunno about that. Maybe if/when Microsoft comes in n if they clean house n bring on a better team?

I encourage anyone who thinks “Garrisons” is player housing, or that housing would be forgotten in a year, to check out housing in ESO or any other MMO that has actually done it well. Even if you yourself don’t care about decorating a house, you’d get the gold for selling furnishings to people like me who will 100% pay 300k gold for an end table.

Maybe one day they will put it into the game.

Considering Ion flat out said they want to add it when the time is right and when they have a system they want to use for it. So it definitely will be coming but we just don’t know when. My guess would be in an expansion or 2 since Ion has said they plan on adding it.

But for me, I honestly am not a fan of playing house in an mmo. I get the popularity for it and will be good for the game since I know a lot of people want this so I will be happy for those people once it gets added.

Forgot to mention it would be completely option not tied to story other than an introductory quest line. Also be a gold sink. I would rather they add stuff for me to spend my gold on than nerf the ways I like to farm gold RIP my cata raid farming days.

And an option to share my home between multiple toons if I desire.

I’ve never played ESO but I loved the housing in Wildstar. It was one of the only things the got right.

I’ve heard so many good things about the housing in that game. I really wish I’d gotten a chance to mess with it.
