Player housing will make the cities (and world) feel empty

A little late for that, it’s already empty

Player housing does not equate to garrisons or a city.

You’ve been incorrect in nearly every single take you’ve had on player housing and don’t even know how it works in other games.

Cities will be fine.

Garrisons had that problem because you could do almost everything there - farm, bank, craft, AH, etc. As long as they don’t repeat that mistake with houses people will still have plenty of reason to go out into the world.

It already is.

The only areas that are not “empty” are recurring activities for end-game like the Theater. And those won’t change in population, cause people will still need to get their stuff done.

Activities is what drives populations to areas, not whether or not there is a place to hang out.

Mecagon got FULL again when the new Meta came out. Things like that will still keep happening.

dornogal is quite populated, many many people there…

but that will change when everyone starts “living” inside their player housing

Nice

Been empty, buddy.

how is player housing different from garrisons? player housing will be an instanced location where people live

As long as the things that are in Dornogal, can only be done there, that won’t change. People will still need to come over to pick up weeklies, get their vault, upgrade gear, etc.

You can’t complete progression activities in housing.

That would be kinda nice. Go out and do some leveling and then back to the house to handle all my business. Only going to cities when I have to.

I like where your heads at!

Stormwind City on Moon Guard is always popping, and when it gets crowded the server heaves with the effort of populating that many people. Offloading some people who want to go do stuff with their guild or friends into separate instances would help.

Other servers where their cities are already empty, this isn’t going to hurt that, especially since you’re not likely to have an auction house, vendors, portals to other areas or other game-critical stuff in housing like Garrisons did.

people already have the auction house bruto, though.

Oh ho ho, but what if you couldn’t mount in the housing instanced zone?

i dont think players will be very happy if they cant lounge on their favorite mounts in their instanced neighborhood.

No, they won’t. Garrisons made the world empty because players had all their profession tables there, an auction house, a bank, a fishing pond, free herb and ore nodes… there was no reason to leave the garrison. Why should players sit in their house and just stare at the wall all day, doing nothing?

well then what is the point of player housing then if people don’t plan on spending any time there?

People did not live in their garrisons. They worked in their garrisons, in WoD that was the best place to craft and make gold.

personally, i would prefer that these resources allocated to player housing design and development were instead allocated to proper class reworks and class balancing design.

People who don’t understand the difference between a questing and profession hub vs player housing… just astound me.
