Player Housing - What I want to see

Player Housing

Player housing has been wanted for a long time. We were promised it in Warlords of Draenor, but sadly the Garrisons had no customization. So, why did Blizzard stop there? Why didn’t they make a better version and make everyone happy? They can even look at EQ2 and FFXIV for a system and easily implement it. The real question is, which system?

Final Fantasy 14’s Housing
Final Fantasy’s housing is very unique to many others. There are 4 housing areas (each with different zone settings. Some with a forest, another with a beach, etc.), with 21 wards/neighborhoods or layers on each one. Each ward has 60 houses, 30 in uptown, 30 in lower. Each house has a lot too, which means you can customize the inside and outside. There are small, medium, and large houses. Each costing more than the next and each limited in how many there are. The problem with this is because it has a lot, you can’t have multiple house layers in a single house. So, people fight over these houses a lot. But, it makes each house unique which is very nice. They also have apartments for people who don’t have the money to buy an entire house. (Which I’m pretty sure have unlimited amount of them.

Everquest 2 Housing
Everquest 2 is what you would expect. Each house can have a thousand players each owning it at once, but in different layers. There are no lots, no uniqueness, but no competition to buy one since there are endless houses. There are small, medium, and large houses. No apartments too (that I remember.)

Furniture rewards with quests.
Everquest 2 also had a very special thing too with their furniture. Each class had a special weapon they could get that took forever to achieve. When finished, it have the weapon and a replica of it for housing. So, as a bard I could have my cool little harp put up on my wall in my house. They did this with many other things too, which made it cool to show off your achievements in your house. Final Fantasy has some of this, but not as much as EQ2.

Conclusion
I personally would want the Final Fantasy housing more as the lot makes it very unique and fun. But competing for them is very hard, and with how many people there are in WoW is going to make it extremely hard to get one. Final fantasy was already pretty bad, so this will make it hard it wow. More houses could be a solution, but that would be a lot of houses. I don’t know if blizzard could do it. The ultimate win for me would be the cool rewards from EQ2 with Final Fantasy housing and a ton more houses.

But I would love to you hear your guys’ opinion. Please comment below and tell them to me! <3

I never got to it, only played a bit of the game then quit :frowning:

You don’t own a house?

Yeah, but you should google up their housing to see some cool ideas since its a suggestion thread!. It was really awesome.

Because people spent all their time in their garrisons and not in cities.

Reading it rn, very unique! I would love if WoW added all three systems together.

Also Aruk, Who cares? Final Fantasy isn’t ruined because we all have houses, neither was EQ2. Being in your house means nothing. And if housing areas were in stormwind, people will come out. I’m not saying have an auction house, mailbox, bank, everything in your house. Only some stuff, I don’t want a whole city in there.

You assume the housing needs to have a purpose. You don’t spend all your time in your house in Final Fantasy. There are things you just can’t access there. Garrisons made it so you never had any reason to leave them because you had access to auction houses and banks and crafting materials.

Yes, exactly what I said. I want the houses to be fun, but not have everything in it. In FFXIV they have maybe a mailbox, that is about it. You still have to go to the main cities for everything. It also has glamour (Or xmog) wardrobes, but we have both these things wherever we go in wow. Whistle tox for mailbox, yak mount for xmog.

So long as it’s just a side activity with no progression tied to it so it can just be a fun thing to do durin’ down time. Not everythin’ in an MMO has to be 'bout power progression.

Yeah, that is what I would like. FFXIV and EQ2 didn’t require you to have a house. It was simply a thing to mess around with while you were bored or waiting. Or hanging out with friends in your house…

Blizzard loves their gold dumps too. That’s also part of what player housing is. I spent far more gil than I care to admit hunting down materials to craft rare furniture and purchasing other pieces that I wanted for my house.

Haha, I was poor because I spent all my money making my house.

But anyways, lets get back on topic. Is this something you would all like to see? (Housing in WoW) Maybe something different?

Also I miss my Lalafell :’(

If they implemented Player Housing, I’d love to have armor mannequins or weapon plaques, just like Elder Scrolls or Breath of the Wild, to show off my Appearance unlocks.

They also had that in FFXIV, I loved that part!

Every MMO with playhousing has died due to playerhousing

No they havent. Why would a optional system that didn’t effect the real game in any way, kill a game?

Player housing would mean wasting hundreds of hours of developer time that should be going to content for players to do instead going to a place where you can’t do anything at all.

If you really want to play interior decorator that badly go play Animal Crossing.

They do it once and it’s done forever. This would also be something to do in these expansion downtimes…

You got your own castle and you’re asking for more?

Seriously, just let people customize their garrisons if this is such an important issue.
