Player Housing: What features do you wanna see?

The option to add a lot more rooms, or at least limit us to one house per warband. Do you really think my Blood Elf wants to live with my Goblins?

Not everyone plays Horde. Not everyone plays Alliance.

IDK if it has been mentioned, but there are lil machine vacuum cleaners wandering around in the Court of Stars keeping things clean, I want one

I want an item I can put somewhere that gives Bwonsamdi “permission” to haunt my house, so he can randomly appear and start talking ****.

His shrine, maybe?

Or one of those lovely brooms you see now and then dusting the carpets.

separate houses for different characters

I’m just hoping for 1. An external yard and full customization for it like the inside, and 2. Extensive collections of items from ALL zones across every expansion, raids, dungeons, etc.

I want a miniature Ardenweald in my front yard to smaller scale.

A repost but what the heck,

1. Player Photos

Remember the SELFIE camera toy from WoD? What if you can also use it as a normal camera and all pictures taken by that toy can be made into photos to hang up in your house?

We can have picture frames of several sizes - small square and large rectangle (made up of 6 squares; in landscape and portrait for those 2 types of pictures).

Since it’s all in-game shots, no chance of undesirable pictures.

Now the bad news is, Blizzard has got to store those photos on their servers so we can only have a limited number of them - 64 slots should be enough for anyone; small square ones will take up 1 slot while large rectangle ones will take up 6. But with compression and relatively low resolution of those pictures, it shouldn’t take up too much space - they can be cached client-side too to save bandwidth.

2. Outdoors Inside

Based on the description of various streamers about the preview, it would seem like the inside of the house is basically a “pocket dimension”.

So why not instead of just offering the players a small room when they first open the door of their house, you can also offer them a small room with no walls or ceiling and a landscape of their choice as far as the eye can see. Players can then build their house as normal.

You would basically have a mini-universe inside your house that you can decorate as you please.

Whether there should be landscaping tools … it would be great if there were but “auto-landscaping” where the land and everything on it (trees, rocks, … etc.) just vanish when flooring is build on the space (and reappear if you remove the flooring) is also fine.

That’s a great idea, actually! To be able to take a picture with your raid after you beat the last boss of a raid, and then hang it up on the wall! Genious!

A shishi-odoshi would be awesome. FFXIV has this and I love it:

Playing off OP ideas first:

  • I like the idea of tethering yourself to ‘Real Friends Favorites’ and getting placed in an available neighborhood with that many plots available for players who don’t have a guild, have lots of guilds and don’t want to play favorites, or want a more integrated neighborhood experience. I think actually promising them to be directly adjacent plots would be unrealistic.
  • I agree with the ‘get into’ part of a pool/pond or any subterranean decor. If it was all only about placing inside your house, you could ‘raise the floor’ around the decor to create that space to enter… but outdoors will be less flexible so some pieces that are designed to sink into the ground outside to create that negative space would be useful.
  • I think EVERYTHING should come with a checkbox list of ‘magic effects’ for housing. Everything from the texture glows, the item emits light, is tangible/intangible, causes damage/drowning/fatigue, gives a potion/food buff within the housing area to solve puzzles (speed, size up/down in extreme ways, damage resistance, etc. and all for configurable duration), interact for teleport like a portkey, etc.) I want to eventually be able to hide these configurations for escape rooms and fun puzzle houses, and I hope they add ‘magic effects’ that utilize toy effect buffs like Scroll of Story telling, Gem of Acquiescence, or Brazier of Madness and continuously reapply for a duration while you walk on the surface of an items.

Also, to add the the ‘swimming pool’ idea it would be cool if items could be tagged for ‘swimming/flight’ so you could do so within their area. This way they could give us a beam/block with a water/lava/acid/potion texture and we can turn it intangible and allow swimming within that area.

A few other thoughts:

  • I want to be able to place a rewards cache somewhere that allows for others to loot it once. I would love to have, for instance, a jumping puzzle that rewards the first 30 players gold like a WQ or maybe a bag from my tailor. I would have to keep filling the box myself, but that would be amazing!
  • Let us have a donations box that visitors can ‘deposit only’ anything into, whether gold or grey items or whatever is normally tradable. This can act as a… more personal mailbox delivery/tip jar for players who enjoyed their stay!
  • Have items that interact with specific game acquired items like the Sp-eye-glass or Relic of Crystal Connections. For secret club style areas that encourage playing the game and finding these tools.
  • Give us wall textures that are dynamic like in Caverns of Time, Algalon, or Etraeus. This would allow the space to truly feel infinite, especially paired with a kill ‘magic effect’ for a jumping puzzle if you fall.

Basically all my wishlist items are to make really trippy rooms that tell a story or for puzzle building utility. I don’t mind earning ‘magic effects’ by maybe collecting a toy with the effect and then doing a small side-quest or something, but I want to share my toy box and make an experience!

I want the ability to plant flowers (not herbs like we know them) in the front and back areas of the house. Maybe on the sides of the house or in raised beds as well.

I would like the option to have a garage for vehicles or to have a tool shed on the side of the house.

I would like the ability to select battle pets to be kind of ‘wild animals’ outside the house, like squirrels, rabbits or things that are more dangerous like wolves/sabers or bears.

I just want to have a house that looks like waycrest manor, or the mansion in gilneas

ESO has a similar system. In addition there are vendors and banker NPCs you can place in all of your homes. Can’t say I’d object too much if Blizzard borrowed a few ideas.

While it’s been confirmed you can 100% do your interior like a mansion - including making it as huge as you like.

Blizzard has been pretty tight lipped about the exterior. Will they have mansion size plots of land … who knows.

I would like to fish in those rooms

I just want a pond in my yard where I can fish.

stuff I can add from Duskwood, vanilla duskwood… lamp posts, pumpkins, cobwebs, Stitches femur (lol), the shrubs with the blinking eyes, etc.

A pond in my yard to fish in would be exceptional, as well. I love the idea of a community/neighborhood fishing pond, too. I’m hoping I can set different weather within my home, too, night and day cycles. So many ideas, so little time in a day lol.

Player housing is just so exciting for me, so happy about this upcoming feature!

We can hope, I just want a spooky house.

Well, they said they’d consider adding any functionality that already exists as a toy. Since the Hyper-compressed Ocean lets you fish, the odds are good.

I want to be able to have my house out in the middle of nowhere. No neighbors. Not even 1.

I want a below ground pool
