Hailing from Sentinels many of our roleplayers migrated to Wyrmrest Accord and Moonguard. I never made the jump but from time to time we will have folks from those servers join up with our guild on Sentinels for an event. My guild is a smaller bunch of folks now and we get together now and then as time allows. (Often at a guildie’s garrison). But I do miss the roleplay on Sentinels.
Anyway, I would like many of these things but I am trying not to get my expectations too high. I am trying to be practical with regard to what might actually be feasible. I was going to make a thread speaking more broadly.
I think what many would agree is that we probably aren’t wanting a Garrison 2.0. What I mean by that is…
- A static phased instance of the house/home in one set predetermined place.
- A place that has preset slots that you “fill” again like the garrison.
- Horde/Alliance specific housing centered around one race.
- Limited availability and ridiculously high entry cost i.e. FFXIV. For an apartment in FFXIV it’s like 300,000 gil.
I can’t speak for others of course but I know I would like to see the following.
- locations within the world at large where you can establish your house.
- Racial identity in the architecture of said housing. Nightelfs having nightelf structures, Pandaren more asian flavored, Worgen more victorian, etc. etc. etc. Not that you would be restricted / race locked to those of course.
- freely movable items/decor to let you customize to your hearts content.
- cosmetic housing rewards via in game progression/activities i.e. through trading post, etc.
- ability to expand/upgrade your housing with addons (not the gameplay addons, but like a garage or stable for mounts).
The problem I can see is more of a server issue with regards to how it can handle all that. That’s kind of why I am thinking it’s going to be in a predetermined place. I know Ion I think said they would want movable/editable items rather than slots or they may as well not do it. I don’t want to put words in his mouth and I forget where I saw/read that particular statement. Maybe Preach had it in a Youtube video?
At the end pf the day player housing should like transmog be an expression of the player.
