I could not find much info on housing so unsure if its already a thing or not. In the virtual tour I noticed a large wizard portrait and some misc paintings on the wall. I did not notice any use of the S.E.F.I.E camera. Will it be possible to integrate S.E.L.F.I.E. photos with the decorations? I think that would be a fun way to personalize your home, especially since this is already in the game.
or at the very least, something similar to how unit frames will use a player model or how the Forum itself shows your in game transmog as a tumbnail. Do that but just make it a wall painting or picture on a shelf. I know that there will be tons of decorations but something about putting your actual characters image inside the house feels way more personal. It could also be a neat way to show off your favorite transmog sets.
Back in vanilla, our guild would take screenshots of first-time boss kills. We just slapped hem on a website but it was fun to go back and look at them and remember the players that were there for that first time. I am not in a guild right now but I bet theres some people out there that still feel close to those other raiders that were there for some of those tough learning experiences. I still have the memories but with housing being permanent, and the SELFIE camera being a thing. it would be really cool to just slap one of those pictures of a final boss down next to whatever Trophy that the game is gonna give us for whatever achievement comes from said boss. (word salad, i hope it makes enough sense)
I hope there is 12hour straight questline where we do nothing but take selfies with various critter in various hats. Yes it would be mandatory
I did the Battle-Pet thing for a hot minute. I have a fairly large roster. So I’d enjoy Battle-pet themed decorations too. Maybe even a menagerie.
I’m only guessing but its 100% no. It would fall in line with them not allowing you to custom write anything. You could take photos that could be lewd, offensive, or other players without their consent then putting it on display.

How does one take Lewd photos with the SELFIE camera? By definition you are very limited in your ability to exploit animation frames as the camera is right in your face. You could be taking pictures of people in the background doing lewd things I suppose but it just seems very unlikely you could do much with the camera in the ways of exploiting animation frames on AFK people. Maybe there is a library of this kinda stuff done with the in game SELFIE came that I have never seen but this seems un likely.
Supposing you could, simple fix would be remove names from images for privacy reasons. It’s pretty hard to make a identity claim in this game without the self-reporting nameplate. Anyone can literally change their appearance at a barber at any time to look any way and transmogs are also universally available to all. This completely defeats the part about remembering other players but if privacy is the concern, so be it.
If lewd poses in general is the issue , I just find it a small reason to block a fun application of the in-game camera. Like to what extent can you do this in game? wouldn’t it already be an issue with the game itself and not the capacity to screenshot the game?
There’s another druid during breaks on raid where he summons a pig on a platter then uses the /sit repeatedly in cat form to look like hes humping it. There are a lot of “interesting” poses you could do with emotes, I’m not going into details, in combining the right individuals can create very crass scenes.
My guess as to why they wouldn’t implement it is storage capacity. Things in your home have to be viewable by others. Your S.E.L.F.I.E. images are pictures that only you get to see. Like screenshots they are stored locally on your computer. Storing a normal furniture object might require only a tiny bit of data (Item#, X,Y,Z coordinates, orientation direction, scaling, color shade, creator, owner). A S.E.L.F.I.E. image, even a low-res one, would be giant in comparison. They just don’t have the storage.
What we might see, is a way to have photos of our character. That might be reduced to (Gear# 1-8, race, Hairstyle, skin tone, accessory, pose#, background#)
I did mention in my post that it would still be cool to have a portrait similar to your forum portrait, which is simply a serverside snapshot of appearance settings and transmog with a colored backdrop.
Yea, I recognize the current function of the SELFIE cam is actually just a glorified screencap button and it would likely require an entirely new in-game item to do “scene captures” for in game systems. I just found the “privacy” restraint to be weak with easy fixes and “crude poses” to be similarly weak as the people mounting Pigs as cats are not getting banned for it. By definition you are taking neutral animations and posing them. Any interpretation is subjective and it is the individual that sees something crass rather than a cat riding a pig, especially in a still frame with no names or chat boxes applying the context for you. All that being said, odds are it just wont happen but we can petition probably for a nice in-game Forum portrait, maybe we can somehow include the doofy SELFIE facial expressions and we can kinda have a safer version of the whole thing
