No, I want Blizz to spend the time to make a system similar to Old Republic’s and Rift’s, where I can be phased into my own instance of already existing styles of buildings and land areas, where I can decorate it however I want using decos that drop from all sorts of different gameplay activities and can be crafted by all of the professions to bring life to the game. A place where I can RP, too.
“I can’t fathom that people play the game differently and would rather just ignore the popularity of housing in other games, just to act oblivious and belittle others.”
False. I’m constantly changing up all of my Dimensions and Strongholds in Rift and Old Republic. I have several and decorate them all the time. Same with the guild ship in Old Republic.
Also, player housing adds gameplay, because people can get decorations from:
raids
dungeons
scenarios
world quests
questlines in zones old and new
fishing
fishing dailies
cooking dailies
every single profession
gathering nodes
rares
world bosses
treasures
secret quests
holiday events
Timewalking
reputations
PvP
random mob drops
auction house
pet battles
mission tables
And people can buy more than one, which means they could use currencies from all of the above activities, as well.
Portals to them could be in cities and they could leave out the auction house and not allow mounts in the housing, so that people still need to use the cities.
Maybe try not to troll and open your mind a little bit to how player housing adds content to the game in all zones, all expansions and for all levels.
Overall don’t care for player housing at all…but I have to admit that even I have spent a considerable amount of time buying and furnishing houses in other MMOs.
It’s a nice diversion, especially when you find something fun that you want to put in your house
The idea has actually kind of grown on me. Maybe it’s just that people have been requesting it for so long now that I’ve become more open minded to it, but yeah… I think it could actually be cool.
Wouldn’t you like to just chill in your little wow house sometimes and maybe, who knows, have some sort of decorations in it that you choose? It’s fun to think about what kind of options and such that blizz might make for it, right?
As for all the development hours spent on it, I look at it like this. Yogg only knows the mind boggling extent of developmental resources that have been allocated to developing and maintaining Classic servers, TBC servers, etc… and I’ve never spent even one second on any of that.
Obviously Blizz is capable of having a lot of irons in the fire. Granted, they may spread themselves thin and do a less than impressive job on some things, but if they weren’t disappointing us somehow, we’d no longer recognize them.
‘Welcome to Ursidae’s House!’
Imagine that sign posted outside your humble abode here in WoW – your own little nifty place!
Actually, if done properly player housing is awesome, we had it in Asheron’s Call and Rift, both were good, but Asheron’s Call housing was fantastic and a lot of fun
I probably wouldn’t disagree. Much as I like experiencing what people have for FF’s housing, the process of getting one makes me want to slam my head into a brick wall. Might have to look at ESO, I’m just wary of Bethesda after Fallout 76.
No, nobody wants a building to AFK inside of. They want a lasting progression feature that’s steadily updated with a good level of customization that isn’t tied to gear.
Housing is neat but I would love to see more public venues that encourage player gathering. GTA5 was able to add a working casino, I’m sure Blizzard could find their way around international laws to add one to WoW.
Maybe not a casino, but we do have tons of places in WoW that would make excellent gathering places, many guilds already use them unofficially; why not just make renting said places out an official feature?
