Player housing has literally no value to gameplay. Only reason they are making it is to charge $ in game store for items. Could have made real gameplay content…not stuff for people to hang on 4 walls and stare at…
Is designing a house not gameplay?
Or not your gameplay?
That’s like saying collecting mogs, pets, and mounts, and doing the things that get you those, isn’t gameplay.
Just because it’s something new to WoW, and because I assume you don’t have any creative bones, doesn’t mean it’s a waste.
PvE isn’t a waste even though that’s my most ignored pillar.
It’s wasted on me but it’s still quite popular, to others.
Housing will be like that.
What makes you think Blizzard will care?
Today’s Blizzard is in the business of trying to give players what they want rather then enforce a specific vision.
Players wanted housing so they are getting it.
Steam allows you to give different badges to posts, to express your feelings towards it with a little emoticon.
I’d easily pin a Jester or a Laugh to this, easy.
Could we get that feature, please? Because this post is begging for it.
It’s even funnier considering WoW Vanilla was originally supposed to launch with housing but they couldn’t figure it out with 2004 tech.
It was going to be a “base pillar” that came with launch.
It’s literally content
Maybe we should wait and see what it is before we decide what it’s not. How do you know it won’t be content?
I know the OP’s type. If it isn’t some new endgame pillar, some new method to gear up, or some expansion to m+, PvP, or raids, then it ain’t “Content”.
Which is just rubbish, because collecting aesthetics has always been content, and it’s the only content that survives when a new season/expansion comes out.
In fact, grinding for gear is the worst kind of content, because your efforts are erased every few months, to make you do it all over again. Aesthetics are the only thing that you get to keep.
And Housing is all about aesthetics. Every piece of furniture you earn, every room, whatever you can stick on or in these houses, you earn and keep forever and therefore it joins mogs, pets, and mounts as being the only content worth aiming for.
If it sells subs and epic editions, it very well is content.
But you have to do content to get things for housing! Omg don’t let your head explode! ![]()
To you.
Just like M+ and Mythic raids are of no value to me.
If they can call them streaming dudes, getting a carry from WoW, “content creators”, I think we can be as free with the term as we want.
The Sims is not a game.
Collect 8 Wolf fangs and lead turtles to water only.
Hanging dead enemy’s head’s on the wall is quite intriguing to me… ![]()
It is content.
If you don’t like it and won’t participate in it beyond getting the occasional decor item as a drop, that’s your choice, and that’s fine. But it’s still content.
Yes it is. You’ll take it just like the rest of us had to take nothing but raid and mythic+ for decades.
M+ and raiding add literally no value to gameplay. They are the same coat of paint that you’ve been used to slaving away over for the past 10-20+ years, depending on how long you’ve played.
Housing is new to WoW, not new as a concept, but certainly new content for people who don’t like to do anything else. They make enough money and truthfully M+ and raiding and seasons should be abolished or take a permanent back seat so we can focus on lore, faction, race, and class identity, and adding new forms of content such as housing every expansion instead of new races no one’s going to play and new classes/specs that are uninspired, bland, lazy, or broken on release in several different ways.
literally anything in the game is content. doesn’t matter if you like it or not.
See, we may disagree on some things we’re passionate about, but on this issue, we’re shoulder to shoulder.
I cannot wait for housing.
