Player Housing Home question: Preset or Build it you own?

Why not?

ah ok thanks for the update and clarification.

How many ideas from other games can they bring in, I wonder?

“Another settlement needs our help. Here, I’ll mark it on your map.”

Echos of pain Of presten Garvey and Minment

“Red Dawn Attack our Settlement they need your help.”

I look at Valheim, I look at your idea… now while I would not want to farm for mats like I would have to in Valheim I do like the idea of building my own house.

However, I do think that this idea would bring out a lot of bugs to b fixed and Softblizz does not have a good track record with that so I am torn, but I do know there are some people out there that could build things in a ‘Valheim’ way that would bring a lot of people streaming and a lot of people building mega castles that would be all over Youtube & Twitch so in some ways it is really not a bad idea in and of itself

It’s just that I don’t trust SoftBlizz to mess it up

Im going to figure out how many birds / avians I can cram into 1 living space. Should be fun!

I really hope Blizzard lets us build our own buildings out of individual pieces. It may be available at release, but I cannot emphasize it enough: I. DO. NOT. WANT. PREBUILTS. AS. THE. ONLY. OPTION!

I don’t care if it is an option for those who do want it, that’s great. It should be. But I want to build up my own buildings, and design my own housing environments. You know, express myself as Blizzard says is one of the pillars of their housing system.

I just want to be able to build a mobile home, put the car from Undermine on blocks in the front yard and fly a don’t tread on me flag.

Just like my real life neighbors.

Your building will not be instanced, it will be IN an instanced neighborhood so you will be dealing with preset lots.

And there is nothing in the advertising so far to indicate you will be able to build your own building.

So it is most likely the outside of the building will be prefab.

I can see chilling on some occasions just designing my wow house while watching a movie on another screen.

For that I hope I can do everything myself.

I think exteriors is the big question they need to answer in the next update.

We know we have tons of freedom on the outside, but I would be surprised if we had that level of freedom on the outside.

Then again, the housing systems have already been far beyond anything I imagined, so maybe we will have more freedom than I expect.

i have spent zero time looking at player housing details and I have about that much interest in an in-game house for my character.

I can “sleep” in an inn wherever I feel like if housing is all that important to me.

If it’s anything like FFXIV, there will be choices for the house exterior - e.g. different types of chimneys, different type of walls, …

What you put in your yard is up to you. You can place fountains, ponds, trees, … etc.

I believe they will at least match FFXIV’s implementation.

Exterior decorations are probably a priority since other players can see it and it will be how players show off - which will motivate sales of in-game shop furnishings.

Sounds like some awesome neighbors. I bet they have great BBQs.

It’s my understanding that the neighborhoods are instanced, and the interiors of your house will also be instanced.

Nothing Blizzard has told us or shown us indicates it is going to be anything like FF14.

I get that people want to be excited for this but if folks don’t cool their jets, all there is going to be is disappointment.

Yes. Exactly.

But the building itself will not be instanced so it will be taking up actual real estate in the instanced neighborhood the same way your town hall took up actual real estate in your instanced garrison.

Yeah. I think Blizz said the next big announcement will be details on the exterior of the houses. I don’t know how they are handling that, but it does sound like there will be some kind of way to customize it. But to what extent, no clue.

What is funny is that I don’t think they understand the meaning behind the flag, just don’t like people or cops. Lol
