Hey everyone, I wanted to share some feedback and concerns about the current state of player housing and the issues I’ve been running into lately.
Right now it’s practically impossible to buy a plot. I’ve tried multiple neighborhoods, checked different times of day, and still can’t get anything. Every time I go to a promising location there’s already someone visiting or sitting on the plot, sometimes for hours. It seems like players might be locking out prime spots using the five minute visit mechanic to reserve plots without actually buying them.
If this is what’s happening, it’s creating a huge barrier for players who genuinely want to purchase and build. It feels unfair to have areas blocked off by people who are just cycling through plots or sitting on them to hold their place. The system ends up rewarding whoever can camp the longest instead of those ready to engage with the housing feature.
A few things that might help fix this:
• Add a clear timer or indicator showing how long a plot is reserved and when it becomes available again.
• Limit how long someone can visit before the reservation expires and prevent back to back instant re-reserves.
• Require a small holding fee or deposit to reserve a plot so players can’t just block them for free.
• Increase the number of available plots or create new neighborhoods if the demand is this high.
Player housing is one of the most exciting features, but this system is making it frustrating instead of fun. I really hope the devs take a closer look at how reservations and purchases are handled because right now it’s making the experience feel gated and discouraging for anyone trying to get a home.
Thanks for reading, I’d love to hear if others are running into the same problem or if anyone has found a workaround that actually works.

Were you trying for a specific plot or were you just going after anything available?
When I logged on about an hour after the thing opened up the specific plots I wanted were taken on almost every district and I had to keep refreshing.
Might not be so bad on launch with guild neighborhoods and charter neighborhoods taking people out of the housing pvp
things that were available, I logged into a different character and my house is back, but I also thing my main who built the house was locked out of it cause he couldn’t see the house even at the old plot, and when my alt came into the neighbor hood he could see it and all those open houses were actually bought plots. weird

I think the reservation thing is just wonky because it’s the PTR. When it goes live or even on the beta, picking the plots we want should be a lot less trouble. If we want a plot and other players clamied it, we should still be able to get that same plot for ourselves by going to the housing directory and re-loading until we see it available. I didn’t really have trouble getting what I wanted but there were one or two plots that I had seen that were not coming up at all. Also, I had to use some of my alt accounts to start over. I didn’t realize that you could do that at first. I thought you had to pick whatever was in your neighborhood. I didn’t know you can go in the beginning to teleport to a specific plot you actually wanted, and now I’m locked out on my main account no matter what I do. I’ve tried everything to start over because they’re not letting us move. No matter how many PTR copies I make, or how many characters I delete and create, it’s still saying my account has specific house plots that I can’t change.
I want to thank all the folks paid 90 bucks for early access to be beta testers for the new housing system on live.
