I think most of us are extremely excited for player, however there is one massive flaw i hope blizzard takes into consideration. alts… i will throw out two achievements i have one being insane in the membrane and warglaives of azzinoth. nothing crazy, but… its something. and based on everything we are seeing achievements and old content mean something and can get you rewards for housing. now what if those characters i got it on have been deleted like 8 years ago? no idea what server its on, do those still count? on achievement tab it shows it does. but the big thing is reputations. insane needs several reputations, but if any of you have tried to purchase anything from quartermasters, you know that specific character needs exalted. soooo do i have to redo insane in the membrane? what about a random reputation from BC where i have exalted with all reps, but not on the characters i play currently? if i go to the “consortium” Quartermaster, I have friendly, but my achievement tab shows exalted. do i need to re grind the rep? because i can not buy anything with the consortium with the characters i currently have even though achievement tab shows exalted.
I believe this simple thing can and will break housing. I can not imagine the playerbase is going to want to go re grind every reputation, especially some like “ogri’la”. yes you can purchase rep with time walking. but thats like 42k rep per faction times at least 80 reps. timewalking badges are indeed helpful, but not nearly helpful enough for content you have already done 15 years ago and also wanting to keep current. I dont know, hopefully blizzard sees this and makes some sort of change, because as it stands, not one of my characters can purcahse even friendly gear from shadowlands and back. even though its all exalted on achievement tab, but the character isnt. and this hasnt even gone into raid achievements or pvp achievements, i pretty much make new characters each expansion and after a year or so of them not ever being touched i delete.
Why would you delete a character that has an incredibly grindy achievement? That’s just absurd.
I for one am looking forward to old reps and achievements counting towards housing. It gives me more rewards for things I put a lot of effort into back in the day.
Housing will also incentivize people to go back and explore older expansion they may otherwise have never touched.
If you want the rewards, put in the work. If you have a habit of deleting characters then let this be a lesson not to delete things if they’re just sitting there not taking up any space because we have 60+ character slots.
I don’t think Blizzard should not do things that benefit long time players just because some players made bad choices or weren’t around when an expansion was current.
20+ years of content, it shouldn’t be ignored just because you’d have to play the game to get the reward.
Weird, cuz I only know of 1 person over 20 years of WoW that deletes characters. Everyone else I know still has their very first character ever made, they just don’t play it. Myself included.
I assure you, most people who played back then do. If I didn’t quit for a while and was unable to get my old account from vanilla back I absolutely would still have the same characters.
correct, as i stated all the things are completed on the achievement tab, so i did do the work. no one knew housing was coming and how in depth it was going to be 2 years ago, if I already received certain achievements from wrath of the lich king but havent played that character since cata, why would i keep it if the achievement is already recorded?
i believe you are missing the point and trying to create a narrative that i never said. I do believe players should be rewarded for their work. my post is about things that are completed but the character no longer exists. never did i say, give handouts. the achievement was earned. the work has been completed. everything adds up. but if you make a new character they do not have access to wrath reputations being exalted. so why should players be punished for making new characters, if the achievements have already been completed? you clearly are playing a dracthyr, so that character had access to content from dragonflight and TWW. so if you want your dracthyr to be your main, and you needed one more spot to make that dracthyr because your character creations were at max. you have to delete one to make that dracthyr, is it right that you have to go regrind everything that you already did, just because you wanted to play dracthyr? all becasue you needed to make space for it to be created?
Why wouldn’t you? All it was doing was taking up 1 character slot of 50 back then.
Nope I race changed. I’ve been playing this specific character since the Burning Crusade. They’ve also added character slots every single time they’ve introduced new races or classes. When allied races were introduced the cap was increased significantly. I think now we can have 65 characters on a single account.
@Dhe - I began playing WoW in 2008 and can assure you that I still have ALL my toons from way back then, including this one. Why on earth would you say such a thing?
because people do… you act like alts are not a thing. not sure why 3 of the responses are out here trying so hard to act like people dont do alts in wow. but people do.
People don’t delete their characters every expansion to create new ones. I have literally never heard of anyone doing that, and I’ve been playing for 20 years.
I make new characters when it strikes me and deletes old characters that don’t resonate with me… but characters that i invested in/did certain content on/have good memories of?
i dont delete characters every expansion, i typically make new ones each expansion. and then i end up not playing older ones for years and once a character hasnt been played for longer than i remember them existing, i delete them.
I have every character I have ever made , except for name placeholder toon that I make when a new race is announced to hold teh name i want till they are released . Why would you ever delete a toon you have played
