Just curious if I am missing something, but there have been a few occasions where I open up on an enemy player from stealth, or drop them with the net from their mount and their health doubles immediately. I was fighting a Rogue just now who had 3.5mil health and shot up to over 6mil in combat. Any ideas what could be causing this?
It’s PvP gear, which has a base ilvl and a PvP ilvl.
The base ilvl is active at all times, so if they’re fighting an NPC, doing a dungeon, etc. this is the ilvl it’ll be using.
Once the player gets into any PvP area or into any PvP combat, the PvP ilvl kicks in.
It’s designed this way so that PvP gear remains the best gear for PvP without being OP in PvE.

if a full set, it will jump their ilvl to like 600, yes that works in warmode when engaged in pvp, hence the change

Oh, interesting. I have a full set of honor gear, but was equipping the higher ilvl world drops in open world. Silly me. Thanks for the reply!
I am the OP btw. Realized my displayed character wasn’t my main so I changed it between posting and replying.
Wonder if that is why some Ferals open on me as Prot they don’t realize the scaling. Must be fun seeing my 7.5 mil HP go up too 12 mil HP. They always regret it.

that was SL. They made the change in DF to where it is only in pvp zones or actively engaging in wpvp.
It used to be permanently active in War Mode for Shadowlands, but that was a time when we had to upgrade our PvP ilvl dependent on rating. It wasn’t automatically set to the highest PvP ilvl like it is now (at Heroic/Mythic equivalent in PvP ilvl)
If you have full PvP gear on, and you haven’t upgraded the PvE ilvl on it, your health shoots up massively in combat.
