This bug has been around for eternity and I have (anecdotally) seen a massive uptick in the abuse of it in Blitz and prior to Blade’s Edge Arena being disabled, there as well.
The bug is extremely simple to set up, exploit and repeat.
The bug:
- When a player is afflicted by a specific Crowd Control ability (Fear / Disorient category) and then a movement displacing ability such as any true “Knockback” will cause them to fall through the map if the floor is not, for a lack of better words, “sturdy”.
Example:
- Play a class w/that DR, Warrior using intimidating shout, or Mage with Dragon’s breath.
- Use Dragon’s breath on an enemy target near Lumber Mill, or any ledge really (100% reproducibility rate on EoTS near any ledge).
- Angle yourself so that when you knock, they’d be going towards the ledge, they don’t need to be next to it, and it’s okay if obstacles are “in the way”.
- Press your knock and watch the player (still in that cc) glitch through the map and fall to their death.
This works on the following locations, with at least a 90% reproducibility rate.
- Lumber Mill along the entire ledge
- EoTS along any edge lining the center of the map
- Blade’s Edge Arena
Impact:
- Worst case is you get DCd from the game and then the Blitz match kicks your toon out of the rated bracket and docks you -200 CR and also applies a deserter debuff to your entire account.
Questions:
- “Well if they’re near the ledge they’d be looking to knock them off it, not through it, can’t ban for that!”
It is egregiously obvious when players want to do this, such as the numerous mages on the Blitz ladder that have done this non stop since S1. I’ve submitted numerous reports, as have others, it has been tweeted about, posted about, etc. Shamans can do the exact same thing.
It is a seriously egregious issue that should be resolved in the spirit of fair competitive play, and if it can not be resolved then at least some acknowledgement that it is seen.
Thanks!
