This is a huge disappointment that you did this Blizz. I used to keep some items that my wife made back when she played WoW, little keepsake things, and now they no longer say that her character made them.
Why would you do this? What was the harm in saying who made the item? Really disappointing. You keep taking the humanity out of this game, and it keeps feeling less and less personal.

People asked for it. They didnât want to see âCrafted by Pooheadâ on their gear.
I think there should just be a way to erase it, as an option.

If this isnât a bug (which I sincerely hope it is), I think in the very, very, VERY odd occasion that some player gets angry about a name on a tooltip on a piece of gear they hover over maybe once a day/week - that you could perhaps implement a way to erase it.
Iâve never seen anyone complain about a name appearing on a piece of gear that has been crafted for them. Plus you can CHOOSE who crafts your gear! The only way a potential âsillyâ name could appear on your gear is if you use the Public Order system and even then who the hell cares?
Youâve probably bought materials from Turdburger.
Youâve probably made items for Bumsniffer.
Youâve probably done a PUG group with Titwizard.
And you constantly are surrounded by weird player names in Valdrakken.
Give me back my names Blizzard! Iâve stopped crafting until you do!

Iâm not entirely sure âwhoâ these people are you refer to. Iâve never seen this complaint, either on the forums or from the people I play the game with. Literally never.
EDIT: From a somewhat more serious standpoint, economically the âcrafted by xâ was a great thing for crafters on servers that arenât Illidan/Stormrage/Area 52 etc because it let the person know they could probably go back to you for re-crafts (or remind them who did it to begin with, if they forgot). That is now gone.

I noticed this the other day and assumed it was a bug.
Iâd have preferred it just remain but players have the option of hiding it.

Go do a search during SL on these forums for all of the complaints about how their legendaries kept the âcrafted byâ on the tooltip and we kept telling them to ignore it, because it wasnât a big deal.
Itâs entirely possible itâs a bug, but⊠I donât know. I see there is a thread in Bug Reports, so thatâs good.

Agreed. Removing name should be an option so the player can decide.

Gobble gobble!
I am personally not a fan of seeing who crafted my items or bags and this was prior to dragonflight. But I appreciate both sides and believe it should be on by default with an option to opt out.

Only reasoning they could have for doing this is because of random character named âPoopyHeadâ or some other âoffensiveâ name making items.
That was Shadowlands, in a far different crafting environment. It is extremely valuable to players to know who they can contact to upgrade their armor/weapons (as recrafts can only be done through Personal orders), especially for rarer items. Word of mouth makes discovery of crafters easier as well.
Personally I just think if you have an offensive name attached to a piece of gear you obtained through a Public Order, the correct course of action would be to report that player so their name gets changed.
Youâll keep my name on your gear wonât you? <3
I never said it wasnât. I was just giving a reason why they might have done it if itâs not a bug. Thatâs all.
That doesnât change whatâs on the gear. Thus, why I said it should just be an option for someone to erase it.
I havenât had a single piece crafted since dragon flight cause the system is overwhelming and confusing but if it had your name on it then sure cause weâre friends
Make it a rogue skill or something to scratch off the âserial numberâ so you canât see the itemâs origin.
Sad to see itâs gone without any option to keep it.

I agree it should be an option for people who want to keep it. But if this isnât a bug but an intended change Iâm good with that too. I always wished there was a way to remove âCrafted byâ.

When I am buying crafted gear for myself, I do admit people with stupid names often donât get the sale unless they are severely undercutting the next lowest in price. That said, I have never heard anyone complain about this either.
Keep in mind, however, it has always been a case that items will lose their âcrafted byâ note if the crafter does any of the following:
Transfers off the server (definitely)
Stops playing long enough their name is taken by someone else (definitely)
Changes their name (I think, not 100% sure)
Changes faction (I think, not 100% sure)
Itâs super sad to me, I had items crafted by friends which lost their âcrafted byâ note several years after the friend stopped playing. (Since I knew the people, I knew for sure they had stopped playing.) But itâs been a thing since forever.

New idea, inscription skill to remove it (that prof really needs some love I think?).
AND players can add unlockable tooltip customizations to their weapon that are compoundable e.g. âWielder of this blade felled Guldan, and also mastered the two step at the Darkmoon Faireâ that scribes can etch into the weapon.
