The only reason why dh’s isnt as popular as other classes is because of how boring and braindead its kit is. Yes they deal so much damage, yes they are overtuned. But it also has 3 buttons for dps.
So if DHs are overtuned, Dks, Mages, Warlocks, Rogues, Monks and Warriors must also be overtuned since each of these classes have a spec that outperforms DH on single target, and 4 of those classes listed have a spec that beats us on AoE too.
Little man is scared to post on his main in fear of us ripping him apart.
Why would i fear 3 button classes?
Because of this? Hahaha…
Jokes aside, we are not really overtuned when it comes to raids, we are just above average. We have a very good kit for M+, though.
Also, our rotation is actually pretty good now compared to Legion. I just wish First Blood was made baseline (all of it), so that we could have another option in that row instead of picking something that just feels utterly horrible when it’s not there.
IF you played a DH, and were not just a Troll, you would know we have like… 4 DPS buttons.
Not a one of the dominant builds has less than 5 rotational buttons. The baseline rotation is 3 (Demon’s Bite, Chaos Strike, and Eye Beam). The dominant Demonic build adds Immolation Aura and Blade Dance to that. As I posted in another thread before the forum revamp, we’re actually dead on average with that. There’s only a handful of specs in the game with 6 or more buttons in their dominant rotation.
I was being sarcastic to the troll.
The main point of this thread is not offend you guys but to give the main issue why there are only few dh users, its not because its underpowered but because its boring to play in the long run. Dont get me wrong the class fantasy is good but playing dh bores people.

DHs are actually slightly above where you’d expect. In theory, with 12 classes, each should have 8.33% representation. DHs are at 8.7% of level 120’s (ie. characters that people have actively played at least long enough to level since BfA launched). If we instead assume that each spec should be represented equally, rather than each class, then each class should have NumSpecs * 2.78% representation. For DHs, this would be 5.56%. So either we’re 5% or 56% overrepresented. And on a comparative level, we’re ahead of 7 classes and behind 4.
I mean, if you look at overall statistics, sure, we’re dead last. But DH still has a lot of restrictions on creation. You can’t make one until you have a 90 on that specific server, and you can only have one per server unless you play server transfer games. So no level 1 banker/AH alts, no random alts on other servers, etc. The 120 statistics cover characters that people are or have actively played since BfA launched. It’s a far more representative view, and a far less biased on given the character creation statistics.
Basically, I think we’re doing just fine on population. And to be honest, I get bored far quicker on a number of other classes.
How many DH’s do you expect to see? I mean you really only ever want 1 per raid group for the raid buff as well as most RBG group has 1 DH. We work well in M+ groups but at the same time there is not a need to have a ton for that activity.
Wait. What raid buff?
Ya know I avoided DH because I kept hearing the same sentiment from people. I finally decided to roll one last night and I don’t know where it’s coming from now.
I feel like I have plenty of abilities. I have the main builder, the blade rush thing, the spender, laser beams, the aoe stun thing, metamorphosis, the fire aoe toggle thing, the dash/vault, and many others I can’t remember because I only played for a few hours on it. I find myself using these things all the time and I’m really busy. Feels very similar to WW monk actually.
I’ve played super simple classes like old BM hunter and complex ones like old WW monk/sub rogue. I find that havoc has more to do than say my Sin rogue. I dunno, I don’t get what people are talking about with it being 3 buttons. I think it’s just a meme that people adhere to because they haven’t played one or don’t play it properly.
I’m loving my new DH. I grew tired of having an overly complicated Feral rotation that underperformed, I grew tired of having a simplistic Guardian spec that underperformed. I now have two specs that have fairly good rotations that give me back what I put in, even if I don’t sit top of the meters at least i feel like what I do in terms of play-style has a bearing on my representation on that meter…I can’t wait to gear up a bit more and take on some better challenges. For the first time in this expac i’m actually having fun!
lmao. Troll much?
5% Magic Damage. Technically a debuff.
Huh? DH got no raid buff/lust…
Maybe you’re confused with a mage?
Chaos Brand, it’s technically a debuff but it’s a 5% damage increase to magic damage. So, 1 will always be required (organized groups) for PvE. Most of the time that role will be filled by Havoc, since Vengeance doesn’t do well on progression fights except for things like Zul.
…/smh You should really go learn something about the game you play mate.
DH brings a 5% dmg buff/debuff Aura however you want to look at it so all Magic damage is increased. It is the same with Monk this tier they bring a 5% dmg buff/debuff for Physical dmg. There will always be 1 per raid as long as they provide it.
