I love this concept, Horde could finally get their San’layn elves.
I would however make these Nazdorei more visually distinct from the Nightborne.

how so? do they really look like the highborne?
maybe that’s where zalashji went ;-;
Bad news for you, nagas will go extinct next patch lol along with Azshara.
Only issue I see with the post from MMO-Champion is they are elves. We all ready have two allied races that are elves.
I’d give playable Naga a try. Beats having yet another el-
DAMMIT.
Calling these Naga like beings “Sea elves” is about as much a stretch as someone calling Trolls “Cave man elves”.
This absolutely doesn’t count as a new elf race. And this is coming from someone who DOES NOT want more elves.
I want them, but they must be Snakey.
I don’t want any of this ‘Making them more Elf like’ or making them Humanoid.
I can agree to that, less elf the better.
Well the examples shown in the megathread are rather Nightbornish, don’t you think?
EDIT:
I mean this part

For now, I agree. For now.
I just want a little break from Elves. xD
Yeah, there’s a few here in the Demon Hunter class hall and they seem to be pretty friendly. One was just telling me how he’s busy but he can make time for me. Most real people won’t even do that. He’s a-okay in my book.
I prefer the more Naga looking Naz’dorei images there, the top ones just look like nightborne.
I don’t see what all the fuss about legs is. Add a coiled side saddle style mount animation and something that works as a jump and call it good.
As for armor, equip in the slots and call it good. Don’t have to have visual legs or pants.
Also, can we stop slapping an -s on the end of Naga? It’s like Worgen.
1 Worgen, 2 Worgen, Lots of Worgen!
1 Naga, 2 Naga, Lots of Naga!
Pretty please?
I guess if the only way to have them added…was a two legged elven form, then I’d be okay with it.
Not at all, the way armor fits is built into the character model. It’d only affect the Naga, I say just leave it off though.
Yep.
Okay…they’re sea elven weresnakes.
Okay, my last comment about sea elven weresnakes…that’s actually making the elf form grow on me.
Here’s what i’m thinking as why.
Perhaps after the sundering, you have the naga living under Azshara and perhaps even N’zoth.
A group starts to dislike their culture and longs for the old ways.
They break off and make a new village in shallower water somewhere, and take back up the worship of Elune. In shallower waters so the light of Elune can reach them and illuminate their village.
Over time, Elune recognizes this and decided to reverse the Old God corruption, but recognizes it’s what saved them.
She reverts them to their elven forms, but with adaptations to their new home of …Naz’elune? Nazjalune? Maybe some name paying homage to her?
Elune recognizes that the ocean is a harsh world, so she changes what she viewed as a curse, into a blessing. When needed, the Naz’dorei (used above, seems like a good name) can call upon the ferocity and strength of what was once a curse and return to their previous forms.
This could all sorta parallel the worgen/pack form. She recognized the usefulness of the packform and saw how their cursed forms from N’zoth could be retained as a survival trait.
The question then, would be what faction?
The worship of Elune would make me think Alliance, as they’d have that in common with the Night Elves.
Perhaps some of the new assets for Nazjatar could be used in creating the village they are from, and add some sort of questline/recruitment scenario to Nazjatar that leads you there by ship where you then dive down to their domain.
Night Elves worshipping Elune, plus the addition of the worgen being alliance.
If we also got Night Elven worgen added, which is something I and others have been asking for, along with the ahnkoan/jinyu, which the Naz’dorei could have a friendly relationship with…all of these things could easily put them in the Alliance.
Elune worshippers + other fish people + other shape shifters.
As for the list of classes that was mentioned over on MMO champ.
“Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage”
Seems like a pretty good list, I was kinda wondering about mage, but since they’d be highborne originally, it could go either way. They could like arcane magic usage, but also be aware of it’s destructive potential since it destroyed their previous world. Maybe just more cautious in it’s usage?
If the idea of Elune based paladins were to become a thing, they’d certainly be another contender for that the same as NE, NE Worgen, and Worgen.
I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing it happen.
What about allowing it as an option for Demon hunters but without the elven form, so it’d essentially be the coilskar being trained by the Illidari, Naga form only. Perhaps even as a neutral demon hunter only option.
It’s a shame there’d be no link to cenarius, but if we also had Night Elven worgen, they’d be druids, so Naz’dorei could be shaman instead.
The image over on MMO champ of the snapdragon would make a great racial mount as they were suggesting.

Ooh a big glowyful moonwell
That kinda makes sense. =]
woah… just woah. this is better then the high elves
Naga I dressed up in model viewer; they can wear pretty much everything except capes and helms.

Like how the Togruta in SWTOR just don’t wear helmets at all.
I’m fine with this honestly.
I want the Sneks, No Humanoiding them.
Edit: Ok, I get that I don’t have whatever arbitrary requirement to post links, BUT QUOTING SHOULDN’T COUNT BLIZZARD!
