What about a Dragonknight. Plate class with pet drake and dragon like spells/talents.
Ultimate skill morph into a Dragon for 30 seconds!

Sounds fun, but sounds a lot like a dragon themed unholy dk with dragon instead of ghoul and then dragon instead of stuff, but you know LoL scrolls exist anyways and lightforged dead are supposed to explode and overwatch got a kerrigan skin. Why not lax it up in wow with player characters a bit and let us rp as other classes?
You still get the odd RPer now and then who will go out of their way to hurl abuses at players for playing dragons, which is hilarious when you think about it because even before the Dragon Soul raid, dragons were dropping like flies. Hell, The Nexus War pretty much cemented for me that dragons were far from being all that and a bag of chips.
my god yrel has found a way into our timeline we are screwed no wonder nâzoth was trying to get us to the void
Probably because i assume, Moonguard level 1-20 zones are where people expecting the party chugger stereo type engage in rp that basically has been described as âchaos clown fiestas rps on crackâ, in a hillariously fun way (Which is actually seriously fun honestly. When you arenât taking it all too seriously. It feels more like a party game and troll server in a fun way and even the mythic raiders are fun and a hillarious blast to play with rofl.
I got to come with my guild to a blast 16 runs and someoneâs computer blew up and we just went around having fun doing the content with the whole thing to have fun and get people their keys. Whole lot more chill, i remember back in Tich when i got yelled at for mythic raiding as a cat and the raid leader refused to gear me up without boomie gear (Despite my main spec, since LFG bags came out to pay my sub.
I do remember a lot of dragon rpers with like archdruids and the random stormwind city âmillitary rpâ (They just seemed to march in formation, which seemed neat, but not much else seemed to be going on), i mostly remember dragons tended to be either dark dragon 5 year god modders âI AM INVINCIBBLEEZ! I DODGE, I dodge, hehehe! you canât hit me!â or overly long detailed flower braid rps.
The main problem i think is that everyone ends up a sandstorm drake or on ridicolously oversized mounts, rping as the dragon instead and they donât fit into any doors or building and fly out of range of eachother while flying.
RP mostly picks up more when the game is percieved as worse though imo or more of a chore. i remember WoD, (Unironically), being a RP hot spot with lfg just since everyone was so bored with the game you did your mythic raid and then hopped in westshire cat clans just to see what was going on my druid. Horde rps were literally all mud huts and like 5 minutes of sitting at the orgrimar inn going. âMan⌠Johnny the minotaur eats a lot, Orkim the Orky eats rock. And the undead doensât have a mouth! haha. Ok⌠now what do we do for the next 30 minutes???â
I canât help but think about the Star Wars Galaxies playable Jedi debacle as soon as we mention useable Dragon characters in WoW.
Not a path this game should tread. Either it would be too exclusive or too common - there is no middle ground.
Make them the worgen AR with a two forms ability to change into their half-elven mortal forms out of combat.
Ogres have been asked for a lot.
I see Horde getting them first before dragon-kin.
Besides dragons would just sneer at us and call us morons anyway. They would have no interest in getting involved in our faction mess.
More like LIght Beer Kulâtirans
Remember Leroy Jenkins-getting lots of new dragons is easily doable in lore. The game could easily present player characters as young dragons who take 50 years to mature and have reasonable power. Dragon raids have presented lots of young dragons as trash.
Frankly your SW Jedi example was not a debacle. Game mechanics trump lore. And what makes dragons any rarer than demon hunters or death knights or void elves or mechognomes?
(Commentary): Iâm all for Dragonsworn being an Allied Race. Neutral, or Alliance, in my opinion. Considering the Flights in general have more reason to support the Alliance over the Horde, thatâs why I say that, though really, itâd probably work best as a Neutral Race because, like Pandaren, Iâm sure the devs will feel that giving them to one side instead of the other is too much.
They just need an instant dragon flight form. You get an instant flight form and you and you. Not only that itâs a badass dragon. Win-win for everyone. I am also alright with it being a neutral race. Dragons for all.
Dragon form as your natural mount sounds like a good idea.
What about a system akin to the idea of Covenants in Shadowlands?
A player can choose to champion one of the Aspects, coming with cosmetic alterations to class spells and icons (maybe descriptions as well), and appearance modifications available either from the barber shop or some equivalent.
Being that theyâre not blooded dragons you sidestep the issue of having hordes of giant drakes flooding the capital cities, battlegrounds and dungeons. You could, of course, grant them a mount transformation akin to that of Worgen and Druids and argue it requires too much concentration to maintain while fighting back in combat, which I think would be quite fair.
I donât think it would be wise to tie anything more than visual effects to the various choices, though, as Blizzard is wont to do with Covenants.
Wont happen. I have been suggesting this for over a decade⌠fun detected wont happen.
Dragons are cool, but theyâre really bigâŚ
Before Vanilla WoW came out, I played âHorizons: Empire of Istariaâ for a couple years.
Horizons was a horrible MMO⌠vastly inferior to WoW in just about every respect.
But it did have one really well-done feature: playable dragons.
Dragons in Horizons were both a race and a class. They fought with tooth and claw as melee fighters. They could not ride mounts, but could equip special gear called âScalesâ. They also had a range of spellcasting, and a breath weapon. Their progression went like this:
Horizons also featured a very extensive system of player housing. For dragons, this meant you could make your own underground dragon lair, complete with different rooms and tunnels.
Horizons is still around actually as âHorizons: Chronicles of the Giftedâ, but unless youâre an absolute dragon fanatic, itâs not worth playing over WoW.
I donât think weâll ever see playable dragons to the extent that Horizons had them. That game was literally built around the concept.
But I do think it might be possible to add more dragon-themed content without totally disrupting WoWâs fantasy world.
No. Dragons are literally worst things in WoW. Only creating problems. Kill all dragons.
I remember that game. Sadly never tried it due to how bad every thing else apparently is.
Itâs a shame hardly any other MMOs picked up this concept.
While true dragons are kinda hard to make playable either because of their size or their op power, we could get a class that is similar to something like the dragon knights from Divinity 2 Ego Draconis.
Mortals blessed by the dragons with draconic essence, they can turn into a dragon form that is similar of a true dragon but smaller and less powerful.
This class (with could be a expanded lore for the dragonsworn) could act similar to a druid but with a single form, and a excellent size for this dragon form could be the same size or slightly larger than the druidâs travel form.
Their humanoid form being a offensive/support caster and their draconic form being a melee dps/tank depending on your Specialization choice, and to differentiate it from druids, the humanoid form could deal efficiently only with one target at time while the dragon form excel best with multiple targets.
