"Play the patch" - a complete disaster of game design

How many times are we gonna

  1. go to a new “island” or landlocked zone
  2. to farm a new currency
  3. that purchases gear that invalidates all prior raidtiers and profession gear
  4. new set of dailies - i mean chores that we have to do everyday

yeah we get it, isle of quel’danas was cool the first time - but every patch? Just flat out lazy, repetitive and tiring.

Welcome to WoW, or really most mmorpgs out there. First day?

So…you are in favor of mecha, Nazjatar, and AEP being relevant now due to essences and trinkets?

And this has been this way since late wrath.

Wow only really did this during Sunwell and ToC then it started to become and every patch sort of deal. If you knew what you were talking about you’d understand this instead you decided to come in this thread and be a smarmy rotting midget

I’d rather have soft resets each patch than be totally unable to even think about playing more than one character because catching up is literally impossible.

I don’t like it either. I’d gladly play if I could just farm higher level gear without participating in corruption/vision/cloak shenanigans.

Maybe I was too unlucky the first two weeks I logged on and didn’t get any great corruption to get me hooked. I also failed my vision and missed my cloak upgrade chance which felt bad. I also didn’t like that I needed to do the checklist every week.

Oh yeah for sure, because WotLK, when the game was at it’s HEIGHT of fame, did this, right? There was no such thing as farming emblems and being able to buy a full set of T9 gear.

I mean do you people just… Blank? Like wtf.

It was actually fun, because:

  1. I knew exactly how much and how long I would need to farm
  2. I could buy the exact item
  3. It was actually fun to run an easy random heroic, because classes were fun and I just enjoyed pressing buttons and team AoE stuff down, instead of solo farming dailies.

Of course it was fun. During 3.3, when the RDF was introduced, you could farm heroic dungeons ALL day long if you wanted to. Once you hit 80 on an alt, you bought 1 264 ilvl piece (usually the cloth shoulders) and queued for RDF as you went from 2700 GS to 4800 GS in a day if you had the time.

Doing that allowed you to buy a full set of T9, 226 off pieces and had a chance at 232 pieces from the 3 ICC heroics.

That was all dumped though in favor of… This. Large time played metrics.

Until they stop adding expansions?

232 from heroic dungeons would be the equivalent of 415 right now so yes actually you can just farm heroic dungeons and gear out to that level with no lockout.

Base on:

Heroic ICC25 / Mythic raid = 272 / 475

Normal ICC25 and heroic ICC10 / Heroic raid = 264 / 460

Normal ICC10 / Normal raid = 256 / 445

LFR is harder as their is no easy correlation, but ToC25 dropped 245 which is probably the best option for comparing to 430.

ICC heroics / BfA heroics = 232 / 415

Rather than each patch invalidating gear from the one before, it would be cool if they would add to it instead. Naz could have been the new-azerite-gear patch, Mechagon could have been the new-trinket-and-rings patch, N’zoth could have been the cool cosmetic patch - if everything hadn’t been covered in eyes, that is.

Instead of the ridiculous power creep and rngforged corruptions, new azerite traits we could pick ourselves would have been cool. Ah well.

It’s been 13 years man. I’m not sure there are any trees left for you to bark up.

Okay? This doesn’t matter.

You don’t go from heroic dungeons in BfA to normal Nyalotha, doesn’t work. You need to be AT LEAST 445 for normal. Not only that, but your neck needs to be @ 75 and you need your essences at their required levels to pull your own weight.

Vs. WotLK - grind heroics, get full T9/232/226 off pieces, ICC 10 ready.

Wait.

Its repetitive if we don’t stay in the same exact area every patch? Use the same exact gear for multiple raid tiers?

Hey, we didn’t go to a new island or landlocked zone.

Takes less than a week to get to 75 on an alt right now.

Well, it’s convenient that we also have mythic0 or 2s (no lockout) dropping 430s along with visions and war fronts as other easy gear sources.

Also if we want to exaggerate requirements we can go back to needing a 6k GS for ICC10 so no, you aren’t getting in from farming heroic dungeons.

Okay that’s cute, you STILL need your essences and you STILL need a decent ilvl to get into Ny normal, like what are you trying to say I don’t understand lmao.

Confirmed never playing WotLK. ICC 10 had a min GS of 5k, ICC 25 wanted 6k+.
I literally play a WotLK 3.3.5 private server. Every alt that hits 80 is geared to around 4900 GS via heroic RDF spam. It doesn’t take long, at all.

Meanwhile, you’re required a MINIMUM of 8 days to get a decent essence in BfA.

…lol

And ICC heroic gear got you less than 5k, which was the point.

I mean that was the whole reason for setting it high, to not have scrubs in heroic dungeon gear.

Also notice my black proto from Wrath?

Nobody checks your stupid essences for normal what are you talking about. You can walk in with no essences
