The fact that any of these bugs persist years after arising is infuriating and insulting. The play dead pet bug is particularly egregious in the context of arena matches due to how severely it impacts gameplay. Suddenly being stripped of your ability to utilize or interact with arguably the most fundamental component of hunter gameplay is utterly unacceptable. When the bug occurs during a match, you have essentially already lost. Being unable to dismiss or even abandon pets while a match is in progress means there is no solution. There is absolutely nothing you can do to rectify the problem. The bug severely handicaps both MM and Surv, but when it happens while playing BM you might as well have already left the match.
As far as I can tell, the first time the issue was observed and reported was in 2021. Imagine if any other class in the game randomly experienced such a fundamentally game breaking bug and it still remained unresolved over three years later. Imagine if a bug existed that could randomly occur which rendered warriors permanently disarmed or prevented frost mages from casting frost spells etc. Any respond from Blizzard other than immediately acknowledging the problem and urgently pushing out a hot fix resolving the issue would be almost inconceivable and the player base would rightly never tolerate anything less. Three years the play dead bug has been left in the game. At this point there’s no other way to interpret Blizzard’s lack of response other than as a slap in the face.

Not sure what you’re talking about.
If you have macroed “/cast Wake Up” to your other abilities, and therefore used it as part of your rotation, then when you “/cast Play Dead”, you won’t be able to wake up the pet for up to 30 seconds, because Wake Up will be on cooldown.
Therefore, you should not macro “Wake Up” to your attacks, and only utilize it with a separate keybind.
Probably bait, but I’ll bite. The bug occurs with or without macros. When you press wake up, the pets stay down and the ability goes on cd for 30 seconds. When you press it again after it’s off cd, they continue to stay down, and it goes on cd for another 30 seconds. The only way to resolve the issue is to dismiss or abandon the pet, neither of which is possible while an arena match is in progress.
It wasn’t bait, it was an honest response.
For years, people have been macroing Wake Up to other abilities not knowing it goes on CD even if your pet isn’t playing dead.
What you’re describing sounds like a real bug with no rational explanation, so hopefully they fix it.

Fair point. Fix that too. #justiceforallhunters. How long has that bug been in the game?
Wake up should not have a cd. This is dumb
I’m a new hunter kind of, why are people needing to cast Wake up and what does it do? I got over 2300 in Blitz a month or more ago and never used an ability called wake up to my knowledge. And what is the bug?
Sorry for the late response, been grinding for finals the past few weeks. Play dead is an ability that functions as a feign death for your pets. When you press it your pets will lie on the ground exactly as you do when you feign. Unlike feign however, play dead requires you to manually cancel the effect and return functionality to your pets. Wake up is the ability that cancels play dead and commands your pets to stand up and resume normal function. When your pets are playing dead, they are unable to move, or attack, and you are unable to use any of your abilities that rely on the pet to carry out an action. (think kill command, masters call, roar of sac, etc.) Ninety-five percent of the time, this isn’t a problem, you simply press wake up and the pets are fully active again. However, when the bug triggers, wake up no longer works, and your pets will remain lying down on the ground perfectly useless until you either dismiss or abandon them. Although annoying, the bug is a relatively minor inconvenience in most circumstances. In arena however, where you are prevented from dismissing or abandoning a pet while a match is in progress, its game breaking. As BM, when the bug occurs, you are effectively permanently disarmed for the rest of the match/round. Your pets will not attack, you cannot kill command, you cannot intimidate, you cannot use any ability that requires your pets to carry out an action in order to function. Even as marks, the loss of utility/defensive cds is crippling. The bug has been in the game and left unaddressed for over three years at this point, which in my opinion is completely unacceptable.
Sounds like Hunters have been left to only feign death to avoid a cast like using shadowmeld and stop using the pet commands.
So the primary use for play dead is to avoid targeted cc on your pet that could be used to prevent you from using roar of sac or master’s call. If timed correctly play dead can prevent rogues from cheap shotting your pet to deny roar of sac on their goes, avoid cc that would deny you the ability to free your healer from a rootbeam, or to cancel a mage’s polymorph cast prior to using icy veins or combustion (undead pets cant be poly’d but if a ret pally is on the enemy team you have to use a live pet or they will constantly get stunned from wake of ashes). Although admittedly utilizing play dead effectively is fairly niche and situational, it can also be extremely powerful and keep you or your teammate alive in a situation that otherwise likely would have resulted in death. Regardless of the broad scope of its utility, however, I would argue that the deeper issue is that Blizz has chosen to ignore and not even attempt to resolve such a gamebreaking bug for over 3 years and counting.

Glad 11.1 MM wont have a pet to manage but maintained all the utility and gained more.
Mend pet should just auto change into Revive when the pet is dead.
I have a macro that I could add mend pet into, but I haven’t. What it does include is resurrecting pet number one if it’s dead.
it used to, but it bugged out season 3 of DF and they decided to just separate the two buttons rather than fix it.
