I’ve mined probably close to 50 nodes since getting maxed mining and still havent been able to locate platinum map to finish rank 3. Anyone else have similar problems?
RNG, friend. It took a while to get that quest to pop after hitting 150. I’m at 12/20 on my paladin right now because I don’t feel like running around looking for Platinum nodes. I just mine them when I find them while out doing other stuff.
Anchorweed took nowhere near this long. Kinda gooby.
I can’t remember which one I had trouble getting to 3, but yeah it’s a random number thing. The star system really wasn’t all that fun to me when they implemented it and it was absolutely absurd for cooking.
I really miss the days when we just skilled things up and were done.
Amen to that. Get way more platinum from just scrapping world gear than from actually mining.
Eleven of my 120s are duel gatherers, and they all got 3 stars in every other skill long before platinum. With my latest gatherers I won’t even be trying, The nodes are so rare I’m lucky to find one in an hours questing, and the drop is insanely low.
Every other expansion I’ve leveled cooking straight away and that too just seems completely uninteresting and unrewarding for this expansion. So much fish needed and. though I like fishing, there are too many other chores I need to do to keep up to have time for it.
I’m realising now part of the problem has been spending so much time trying to keep alts geared up to meet the increased mob difficulty, despite knowing this is an artificial treadmill designed to make us do just that. Having just got a new Dark Iron Dwarf destro Warlock to i level 360 I’m finding he kills mobs faster and survives better than my i level 394 Worgen destro warlock. It makes gearing him up further counter-productive as, not being a raider, I won’t be getting him over 400 anyway.
Of course this impacts gathering that platinum, because even gearing up to 390+ does not make gathering a breeze like being similarly geared did before scaling. It’s still a fight for every node of ore which costs time and leaves me with swollen aching wrists these days.
50 nodes? That’s cute. I spent the full 2 years of Legion mining every scrap of felslate I could find and never got 3 stars on felslate deposits or seams. Or leystone seams either now that I double check it.
The star system sucks.
On alt was seeing them usually two or three a day at rank 2, then after getting quest, was lucky to find one in a day, i think my sub ended with me needing like 8, they had the comeback weekend and was able to get the remaining 8 in one or two days, is it worth it?
Nope.
The ranking system is the fails.
Do you really get more after rank3, not noticable to me, do you get any bonus material, not noticable to me, does the ranking system even work, not noticable to me. It probably something that looks good on paper, and its an added another thing to check off if you want to exploit the OCD nature of the playerbase, so is that worth it?
I know on my other miners i will just skip the quest, also i think would end up with more material, as i think the quest probably disable nodes from appearing for characters on that quest, feels like it probably has some hidden timegate mechanic added, but after taking a break i returned suddenly was able to locate 8 nodes in a day or two, seems highly suspicious to me, do i think blizz would spend more time adding underlyng crippling system ion can add a knob on? Yes i think ion would like that very much.
So i guess rank 3 can happen.
Just does not feel worth effort for me.
Blizz’s goal is to keep you subbed as long as possible, not complete things.
