So on top of that question, one thing Plater doesn’t seem to do, that I think Tidy Plates does/did do … is you can put in a SPECIFIC spell name and alter the dynamics of it.
My example is let’s say a mob casts 5 spells. 4 of which are dumm and do nothing. But that one other spell does MASSIVE damage, will 1-shot the entire group.
So what I want (either Plater or Tidy Plates) is to show the enemy bar/cast bar at 100% UNTIL it casts that one major spell, and then scale to 150% (user set).
Does that make sense? Plater will allow you to scale the NPC bar, but I don’t see a way to input SPECIFIC spells and have it give a dynamic response.
I don’t know of a way to do that with either add-on. If you only need an alert that it’s casting that specific spell you could probably create a event-based (I believe - been a while since I created them) WeakAura for it, but I’m not sure how you could highlight the casting NPC itself.
It may have at one time, may still in some way I just know how to accomplish. I only picked it up in the last few years. It will let you specify nameplate styles, scale, color, highlight/glow, and threat based on NPC name. Dynamic nameplate modification based on the spell being cast would be a very nice.
Edit: I’m dense, I’m actually thinking of ThreatPlates. Sorry.
I know this isn’t what you’re looking for, but you could search the website to see if anyone else has created anything like it so that you don’t have to code your own:
I messed something up with my WA for Mythic Hungering. Could never figure out how to fix it.
So I’m gonna say MAKING my own WA is out of the question. lol At best, I would need someone to walk me through the ENTIRE process… at that point, they might as well just make it.
I just can’t believe this doesn’t already exist. Esp when I’m so sure it USED to exist.
Ask in the plater discord, %99 sure you will able to do what you want, there is a lot of advanced scripts that give you the same level of customisation as weakauras
And as I sit here waiting for my RBG queue to pop, I can understand why.
Blizz wants you to KNOW what to stop. It creates a grey area of gameplay where you can have a n00b download your Plater profile and just say “interrupt the big stuff.”
So they never really learn what’s going on, it can be argued you’re getting away from playing the game.
I SORTA can see through to that. But… the bigger issue to me is Blizz has created SOOO MUCHHHH VISUALL CLUTTER … I CAN’T EFFING SEE!!!
I mean you can already hide nameplates for specific enemies, have unique nameplates settings for any mob with specific marker like the blue square, why is having the trigger for changing UI be a specific spell out of the question
On the script section for plater in wago I found a script which already changes the nameplate ui when enemy casts a specific spell it’s one of the top results
The discord is the details damage meter one same mod creators, you can find the discord on the curseforge page that’s your best bet for help, It won’t let me post links
I installed Plater and found that in the Scripting tab I can set trigger types to modify the nameplate cast bar (Spell Cast trigger) when a specified spell is cast. There are appear to be quite a few alert types (“Ultra”, “Important”, etc.) and in my quick testing it seemed that configuring both a Spell Cast and a Unit Name trigger in the same alert type resulted in nothing happening, but it might be a start.
This can almost replace littlewigs/dbm for dungeons. You will at least get a verbal “interrupt” warning when the big spells start to cast.

Maybe I can go into a (sic) Vanilla dungeon where I can just keep testing a mob casting to figure it out. That sounds like it has potential, ty!
I’ll look at it. My issue is going to be: I don’t want a list that someone else made. It’s just CERTAIN situations I’m looking to have a little more control over.
This should be a link to the Plater discord, if I’ve done this correctly:
It’s the same as Details! and World Quest Tracker, the same guy makes all these addons. There’s a different section for each one, so you can just go to the Plater section.
