Dumb question… do plate wearers also unlock mogs for cloth, leather, and mail when they quest or get drops?
The reason I ask is my newly-created hunter here barely has any mail mogs. Up until now, I’ve always played cloth or leather classes. I’m wondering if I would quest as a plate wearer, I’d have unlocked a lot more mail mogs from quests.
No, they will only unlock armor and weapons that their class can personally equip.
EDITED TO ADD CLARIFICATION:
The items must also be the appropriate armor and weapon types for a class.
Archive of a Blizz post:
First things first: what makes an item eligible to be added to your appearance library? Here’s the comprehensive list of questions, to which you must answer Yes To All.
- Can you equip the item?
- Does equipping the item retain the bonus from your Armor Skills passive? (Really, this just means it needs to be the armor type you’re supposed to be wearing)
- Is it bound to you? (The item must be permanently soulbound, trading an item during the grace period timer will revoke the appearance)
- Is it at least Uncommon quality?

You’re welcome.
One point to note, Warriors will be able to learn bows or guns. Since they technically can still equip them (leftover from way back in the day when they had ranged abilities). Same goes for Rogue.

Ya, I think my rogue unlocked some bows for me.
