Do you have to have Alchemy to get the vial of the sands receipe from the canopic jar ?
To loot it you need archaeology.
To learn/use it you need alchemy.

Thanks Vhx thats wht I thought.
Turn off auto loot and look in the jar. If not there then leave whatever it is it in there and bank it. Check them after patches. Loot table resets after major patches. That’s how I got mine

my archaeolgy is at 600 all done in Kalimdor and eastern Kingdom and no matter how many dig sites I clear I have not had one show up in Uldum and I have been pretty much clearing them all clearup to northern kalimdor. How do you get any to show up in uldum is whats driving me NUTS LOL.
i got mine on second sight. it all luck.
Considering the next patch is… well… TBD, I’d say keep searching for jars lol.
if you don’t have alchemy, you will not see the recipe drop.

Trade in sealed crates for Tol’vir crates. You can do that at any of the archeology trainers/shops MoP and after. Then it doesn’t really matter which sites you dig. Also if at all possible do it on a Dwarf, one of their racials always gives them extra artifact pieces.
Do you have Cataclysm archaeology?
Also - if you’re doing this in Pandaria, use Forager’s Gloves for faster harvesting. They work for archaeology too.
BfA also has a faster Surveying glove enchant.
I have 2 shammy’s maxed out archy and alchemy, and I have spent hours farming for the recipe and never have gotten it. I have heard so many stories about players getting it so quickly and it frustrates me. GL to OP
