Would reccomend,if marinara gives heartburn and your pizzeria is a mom and pop shop like mine,you can do an olive oil base.

One of the best pizzas out there is from Pepe’s in New Haven, CT. Fresh-shucked clams, olive oil, garlic on a thin crust cooked in a super hot brick oven. Amazing.

I’ve seen pizza with pineapple on it and there are menus online that show this happens, so I think your premise is incorrect.
